Is this sufficient?

by sudimba » Sat May 31, 2008 10:14 pm
I saw this on on some website and was asked to calculate if this was sufficient
(x^2)*(1-x^3) <0.

I recall the next entry was
x^2<x^5. How is this possible?

Thanks.

If we just multiply out the left side, we get:

(x^2)(1) - (x^2)(x^3) < 0

x^2 - x^5 < 0

and if we add x^5 to both sides, we get:

x^2 < x^5
