MBA Applications - Curriculum Vitae

by rahulg83 » Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:04 am
Hi,

I wanted to understand if a CV intended for a Business School Application is different from the one intended for Employers in my current industry.
Many schools ask for the CV during the application process, not only for assessment, but also for better understanding of the prspective students.
Are there any specific areas we need to highlight in such CVs (like Extra-curricular activities, GMAT, Academics etc.)? The reason I am asking this is that in normal CV, we don't generally emphasize much about academics, and do not mention extra-curricular activities at all.

Totally Different!
Not so much in adding or deleting sections, but in the approach. For example let's say you are a chemical engineer. In your normal CV it's gonna be chock full of all the wonderful and amazing technical stuff you can do and have done. However for an MBA, they won't even know what you are talking about! And to aim for an MBA it's better to write a CV that i full of BUSINESS achievements, of leadership, initiative, teamwork... all that sort of thing is FAAAAR more important than the technical stuff.

And if you have any doubts, try our or resume package:

Your resume will come back soooo slick, that you won't believe your eyes.

Hi rahul,

Both the CV's will look different all together. We would advise you to make them different as what you are trying to highlight in each case is different.
