Round 3 - Top 10 US School

by Nickg2 » Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:07 pm
Hi

I have my first GMAT in 2 weeks and I'm then planning on applying to a top 10 US school ahead of April round 3 deadlines.

I'm expecting a 650+ GMAT score but thoughts are that if I don't get 680+ there is little point applying in the 3rd round.

I'm 27 yrs old, from the UK and have 5+ years Corporate Finance experience.

Should I be applying in the 3rd round or are my chances very slim and I'd be better placed waiting to apply next year?

Thanks

Hi Nickg2,

I recommend that you wait to apply until next year. Final rounds for a given school (be it round 3 or round 4) are often a bad strategy. For many schools, this is the time they are focused on completing their class and picking very specific profiles. In addition, if you submit an application in March and are not admitted, you do not have much time to regroup and improve your profile before reapplying in October for the next season.
