I got an e-mail from IE today saying that I have been admitted to the Master in Management program and they are giving me a 5,600 Euro scholarship!! :):) I'm incredibly happy.

However, it is the first school that I have heard back from and I am still waiting for responses from 6 more schools. I'm supposed to hear back from them this week and next. But I'm just really happy that I'm assured of a school. One weird thing though, I applied to IE for the September 2012 intake, but in their e-mail they said that I had been admitted for the February 2012 intake and my scholarship would only be applicable for this intake. However, I am still finishing my final year of university and am graduating in March 2012 so should I choose IE, I wouldn't be able to avail of the scholarship.

If I do get into the other schools, do you think I could tell them about my offer from IE and the scholarship they're offering me in hopes that they would offer me a similar incentive?

baume7, WOW!! That indeed is an Admissions Success Story!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

We recommend that you contact the IE admissions office and inquire about the February intake thing. It sounds like maybe there was simply an error made - they cannot expect you to drop out of your final semester of university in order to start their program!! See what they say, perhaps it was simply a clerical error and they meant for it to say September 2012 intake.

On your other question, about notifying the other schools of the IE award: You can tell them about it, but we rarely see this news making any difference in the decision processes at other schools (we have lots of clients in this position every year and it doesn't seem to sway the adcoms). It certainly won't affect their decision to admit or not. What it *might* affect (very big emphasis on "might") would be any scholarship monies that the other schools offer -- but frankly, 5600 euro isn't a whole lot of money. It's a very nice contribution to your education but it's unlikely to be seen as a big deal from many other schools.

Of course, every school is different, and certainly EssaySnark is not on the admissions committees!! But if you were our client, we'd suggest that you not bother with this. Or, that you wait and see what the other schools' decisions are, and then maybe use this information to go back to them if you want to try and "negotiate" for a better deal if others admit you with scholarship offers. (Again, we have never seen this play out in the applicant's favor, so we're not holding our breath.)

No matter what: IE is a great school!!! You deserve to be happy with this acceptance, and if that's where you end up, you'll be in fine shape. :-)

But please report back so that we know how things have turned out for you at these other schools!!!

Thanks so much for the great tips EssaySnark! I always look forward to seeing your replies. You give such great personalized advice and are always so polite and nice with your answers :) The 5 SAI schools are supposed to get back to me on December 7th, and ESADE was supposed to get back to me within a week, so hopefully by tomorrow or Tuesday *fingers crossed*. Will definitely post updates!

Dear baume7, to begin with, congrats for your success! I am also admitted for the Sept. 2012 MIM intake. I am expecting a resolution from the financial aid comitee at some point these days. Could you please share with us how your case turned out, was that indeed a clerical error? Thank you in advance, Dimitar :)

Hi dimitar! Yes, it did end up being a clerical error. However, I decided to pursue my studies at ESADE instead :)

Wow, baume7 - you really racked 'em up!!! Nice going!!! ESADE is of course also a great school but just curious, what made you choose them over IE? Did you also get a scholarship award for Barcelona? Would love to hear about your decision process!
