Hi
I took my GMAT last month from India. I am currently in Chicago on a vacation. I am planning to visit Booth to understand what are my chances @ Booth (:P) . My profile is as below
Age:30 ( aug 24th 2010)
OVer all Work exp ( 8yrs as on 11june 2010)
Specialization : HR (5 yrs work ex)
I am looking forward to my MBA in HR.
GMAT score : 650 :(...my brother says that i should give GMAT again. He thinks I rushed my GMAT ( 45 days gap between day 1 and test date ) ...what do you think?
I need help in identifying colleges that offer good courses in HR.
I have applied to Booth/Cornell/Duke (Fuqua).....(and then i ran out of names so i went for Kellogg n HBS :P)
What are my chances @ Booth? well. i am visiting them tomorrow , will surely let you guys know
PS: I think my chances depends on the answer to "whats with these good colleges? Do they believe in taking someone who is already brillian (720 plus GMAT) and then claim that the best are from them...OR>..they take someone like me and then claim that they make the best ."

regards

Age: 31
Gender: Male
Current City: Atlanta, GA
GMAT: Not Taken. I've only taken one "real" simulated practice test and scored 710. My target is 750.
GPA: 3.5
Work Experience: ~10 years of professional software design and development for a variety of industries (telecom, logistics, sales and most currently investments)
Application year: 2011
Status: Just started studying for the GMAT

Target schools:
Georgia Tech
Emory
University of Georgia
Georgia State

Notes: My marital status precludes me from leaving work, so I am strictly looking at local, part-time programs. No "top 10" schools for me, but fortunately GA Tech and Emory are both pretty good programs (ranked 26th and 27th respectively by US News & World Reports). The trick will be paying for them without my wife divorcing me over the costs!

Can somebody please explain to me what does Rounds 1, 2 and 3 applications dates (that each Biz school has) mean?

Does this mean I have to submit an application 3 times or I can submit it on any one round and undergo 3 rounds of getting 'filtered'?

I am preparing to take the GMAT the end of this year and hopefully commence studies next year. So when exactly do I have to start my application process? I am interested in MBA in Health care. I am currently on my second year as a health service researcher.

This is my profile:

Age: 26
Gender: F
Current City: Singapore

GPA: 3.5
Work Experience: 2 years in research
Application year: 2011

Target schools:
Duke Fuqua
Kellogg
Columbia
NUS
Olin
UCLA
Berkeley
Kindly help!!!

Thanks!

Hi dmateer

i'm from India and here's my profile. Currently working as a naval shipbuilding engineer and looking to make a transition to finance.

Age: 24
Gender: Male
Current City: Visakhapatnam, AP, India
Nationality: Indian (yes we'r Asians too :) )
GMAT: 750
GPA: 3.7
Full Time Work Experience: 2 years (as on Jul 2010)
Application year: 2011
How far along in application process: Finished first draft of essays for 3 target schools (Columbia, Wharton and ISB).

Schools interested in:
Wharton
Columbia
NYU Stern
MIT Sloan
Chicago (Booth)
London Business School
ISB (Indian School of Business)
Harvard (kinda need to grow another inch before aiming there :) )

By the way can someone help me with a query i'v been having? Does it make sense to make a transition to finance (specifically investment banking) after 3 yrs in a heavy engineering sector such as shipbuilding? Will it be considered an unrealistic goal and therefore an outright ding? I'm more of a production planner than a site worker and so i'v had the chance to take on a couple of finance roles but not the spreadsheets and forecasts type.. can i still aim for a transition or should i look to continue in the same field albiet in a finance role? i know i dont wanna go into accounting.. its gotta be investment banking or if i cant get that then private equity.. if this is not possible i'l have to rethink my short-term goals (altho the MBA is a sure thing :) )
