Hi, There!

This is my first official visit to any MBA social networking site! Wow, so many people are in the same boat with me now~~~Surprised~

I am planning to apply to 2012 Fall NYU STERN LANGONE PART TIME MBA. I really want some critical advice regarding if I can be accepted. I am writing down below all of my specs so it would be really appreciative if you reply to me!!!

1. GMAT: Not yet. But will take the first one at the end of this month and plan to take upto 3 times by next Mar. It is ok to take the exam upto 3 times? And what is the safe score range for the school? (I know the higher the better but 660 ~ 680 would be fine?)

2. Work: I am an international non-immigrant worker with a work visa.
- Got BA degree on ENG. Lit in my country and another BS on Fashion merchandising in NYC.
- Interned 4-5 well known high fashion houses including John Varvatos and Thom Browne and Prada for almost 3 years (all related to my study: Retail operations, merchandising, design and production)
- Worked as Assistant buyer of Italian Luxury RTW Brand(GIORGIO ARMANI) and retail operation associate manager in my country for more than 1 yr.
- Came to NYC last year and has been working as apparel product development and production coordinator in a company in NYC so far. This com. has business with Wal-Mart / Target / Macy's and other major retailers in the US.
- Will have been working arnd 3 years by the time I apply for the program.

The reason why I want to get into parttime MBA is that I will not leave for any other industry but keep working for fashion. And this com that I am working in now is very fair and good for my career.

Pls let me know your opinion if any. And also pls give me if any tips for my essays...

Looking forward to your response!!!

Thanks!

Hi There Samang,
First of all let me say that you have a very good profile. It's very rare to see people in the fashion business apply (oddly enough) and its a HUGE business in which you seem to have a strong work history. and I would say Langone is a perfect fit for you. You should be fine with a 660-680, though if you can break the 700 point, that would obviously be faaaar better :)

Other than that, for your essays - what to write? Hard to say EXACTLY till I hear your stories, buuuuut: write with passion, about the business you love, showing your greatest achievements, the moments of great leadership, painting a diverse and impassioned picture of yourself as a candidate and person.

To get more specific, we'd have to work together...
soooo, Best of luck to you!
