At Shiprock, New Mexico, a perennially powerful girls' high school basketball team has become a path to college for some and a source of pride for a community where the household incomes of 49 percent of them are below the poverty level.
(A) where the household incomes of 49 percent of them are
(B) where they have 49 percent of the household incomes
(C) where 49 percent of the household incomes are
(D) which has 49 percent of the household incomes
(E) in which 49 percent of them have household incomes
I thought where could only refer to a place . Whats wrong with D ?
OG 10 Can we use where pronoun for a community .

where in C - used for physical location
If D was, in which 49 percent of the household incomes are, it would have been a contender!

"Community" can be an abstract idea OR a physical location.

Are you implying "where" is NOT ONLY used for physical location, but ALSO used for "abstract ideas"?VivianKerr wrote:"Community" can be an abstract idea OR a physical location.
OG103 uses "where" for Societies, and this question used "where" for Communities?
What else can "where" refer to? What do you mean by abstract ideas - more eg. please? Somebody please help. Thanks.
That is right. Here it is mentioned physical location....Please i need clear explanation.GmatKiss wrote:Hi,VivianKerr wrote:"Community" can be an abstract idea OR a physical location.
