Hi All ,

I have started preparing for GMAT since past a month and have been doing OG all then according to a worksheet provided by my institution. Please guide on following :

1) Ideal date when should I take the exam. I have been able to devote 1:30 hrs daily on prep.

2) Materials to study .

3) Shall I start my counselling now. I don't know what B-schools should I target apart from few in India and in US.

P.S : If there is already any Thread answering all these questions ,Please direct me to that.

Ideally u should pick school first and then see a gmat requirement matching that to your profile.
Anyways, If you are planning for fall 2012 then start researching schools based on ur current career. Use google mate. Or read the profile evaluation forum here to map ur profile to the correct places.
Cheers !!

I have to agree with bblast in that you should first identify your desired Business schools.

Since the GMAT requirements of Business schools are so varied (some schools have no GMAT requirement, others want a minimum score of 500 and others want you scores of 700+), the amount of preparation time can vary a lot.

Once you have an idea of the GMAT score you need, you should take an official GMATPrep practice test to see how far you are away from this required GMAT score. This will give you a good idea of how long it will take to prepare.

Cheers,
Brent

take a gmat prep nd see ur weakness area, for me it is quant, i had plateau'd at Q 47, so m taking up gmat club tests that r good for quant improvement, (until u review errors nd solve the same problem 2-3 times and understand the best way ur score wont improve)

alternate days i do 10 ps /10 ds from og. i take a stopwatch and solve the 20 questions in arnd 25 minutes. but i review it for another 1-2 hours for reasons said above. even the one's i got right.

btg questions r also good for quant. so find ur weakness area first
Cheers !!

Its illegal to circulate official material in pirated pdf form brother . You are queuing yourself to pursue international business education. You should not be making such comments.

Go and buy out the hard copy of the books, it'll cost u arnd 3500/- INR for entire OG bundle.
Cheers !!

start with the powerscore cr bible for CR. read it two three times at various stages of ur prep, Same applies to MGMAT SC guide. Google and you will find that these books are worth millions, for RC try to recognize pattern in questions(official guide only) :
eg:
the passage suggests----means inference.
according to the passage- means, its a detail question which u need to look up.
main idea question means u need to encompass the idea of all para's to answer this, Sometimes the third para will talk opposite of what the 1st 2 talk abt, in such cases look for an answer which only talks about the 1st 2 para's and eliminate it.

In all there are not many question types in RC's. Study and rip apart every nook and corner of official guide. That said u have to mark out your target, If you want a 40+ and you are at 25, then the effort to be put in has to be substantial.
Cheers !!

Hi ,

Just less than a month for my exam on 14th sept , i am still at low score of 560(43Q ,23V). I am now totally confused on what should I practise so that both my verbal and quant can go up. Don't know whether I should postpone the exam a month more till Oct 15th not.

Weakness Areas:
Quant --> probability , Number system , Mixtures.
Verbal--> Only partly comfort in RC. CR and SC both need extra effort.
Suggestions needed.
Also , what is the procedure and fee for rescheduling the exam , if anyone can provide info would be of great help.

Thanks
Mehul
