Which of the following most logically completes the passage below?
Heavy rains during Centralia's corn planting season prevented some farmers there from planting corn. It is now the planting season for soybeans, another of Centralia's principal crops, and those fields originally intended for corn are dry enough for planting. Nonetheless, even though soybean prices are unusually high at present, the farmers will leave most of these fields empty rather than plant them with soybeans, since ------.
A.the extensive rains have led to an increase in the price of corn
B.some Centralian farmers anticipate serious financial losses due to the extremely wet spring planting season
C.chemicals that were used to prepare the fields for corn planting would stunt the growth of soybeans
D.the majority of Centralia's corn farmers were able to plant corn as they had intended, despite the wet planting season
E.many Centralian farmers grow both corn and soybeans
OA given is Op C, [spoiler]an expert suggest that Op C is correct because it suggest why soybeans show not be planted...means this Op gives a reason that since chemicals affect the growth of soybean hence they should not be planted in all the field. My doubt is as chemical is going to affect the crop that means that the yield will be low so to get more crop more soybean should be planted instead of planting in small area. Why Op C is correct??? It's not just a matter of obtaining a low yield: 'stunt' the growth sounds pretty serious: would the crop be able to mature?

Well is this related to the specific meaning of the word "Stunt"...?? Because if this word has such serious issue as u mentioned then unfortunately i answered this question wrong solely because of the meaning of just one word. its horrible!!!1kevincanspain wrote:It's not just a matter of obtaining a low yield: 'stunt' the growth sounds pretty serious: would the crop be able to mature?
