i am posting in very concise words

mean sales frm jan to oct = 120000 each month
nov sales is 3 times avg of other 10 months
dec sales is 5 times of other 10 months
find monthly sales avergae of all months

ans = 180000

November sale = 3*120,000 = 360,000
December sale = 5*120,000 = 600,000

Total sale of 12 months = 10*120,000 + 360,000 + 600,000 = 2160,000
Average monthly sale of 12 months = 2160,000/12 = 180,000

total for 10 months = 120k * 10 = 1200k

for nov = 3*1200k

for dec = 1200k * 10

thus total/12 = 180,000

@Anurag,
although I agree with your explanation, don't you think there seems to be some catch in the highlighted statement?
nov is 11th month. so comparing sales of nov with average sales of other 10 months means jan-oct
but dec is 12th month. here the comparison of dec sales with average sales of 'other 10 months' could mean any of the 10 months from jan-nov. we can't restrict it to first sequential 10 months unless unambiguously specified. I hope I made myself clear to be understood.
