good at CR but horrible at RC

by shahpuja » Fri Feb 22, 2008 3:43 pm
I have scored a 90 % on CR but when it comes to RC I don't do so well. Trying to struggle to make it in time, not wanting to go back and read the passage. i end up making assumption which are close but mostly wrong.

I studied The Kaplan book, OG and the Princeton Review. Then gave 2 Kaplan tests with a 520 avg score. After which I gave 3 Princeton review and managed a avg of 44 in math (which i can improve for sure) and 32 in English. I finished the math section but left 4 unanswered in English. And alot of my time was wasted on RC
I read kaplan that asked to write a few notes on a scratch paper. But I think I am wasting more time doing that then just reading.

Any suggestion would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Are you making mistakes in short passage or long passage? The way i approach RC is, jot down the key points in each para like what we do in Preface and then start answering the questions. This will minimize the mistakes you are making. Note: for taking key points, you should not take more than 3 minutes and answering each question should be less than 90 seconds.

Thanks
