Kaplan GMAT Premier 2011
This topic has expert replies
I know this subject has been discussed to death, however, are the scoring algorithms on the CAT tests on the CD-ROM included with the new Kaplan GMAT Premier 2011 book the older ones? I had a disappointing result this afternoon compared to the GMAT prep CAT's I've taken.

Kaplan tests are tougher.
I scored 590 when I took a Kaplan test for the first time (At a similar point of time, I got 690 on the GMAT Prep).

Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert.

That's good to know. It seems that the arithmetic problems on the Kaplan CAT's are more involved and complicated than in the GMAT prep material. Arithmetic is normally my strong suit, I scored about 70-75% on the arithmetic problems in the OG according to the error tracking log. However, the CAT I just took provided drastically different results, 40%. After, going back through the problems I had made some stupid errors, so who knows.

Hi Trekib,
I know we're constantly striving to improve our CATs, but I'm not sure whether the 2011 premier book has updated tests [email protected] will be able to give you a better answer.
Regardless, even our old algorithms are mostly accurate--if they're off, it's not by much. And even so, every test you take is valuable regardless. Take a look at the errors you made for your error log. Those are the key to test day success!
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you!

Eli,
I have access to 6 online kaplan tests(via kaplan premier live online 2010 edition). Any idea if they have the so called updated versions of CAT or still the older ones? one of them is a paper based CAT, and i observed CAT 2 is not adaptive?
Thanks,
