Usage of "Will" and "Would"

Is there any easy way to figure out when to use "will" and when to use "would" in a given sentence.

I think I have read some pointers stating that, "will" is more preferable in GMAT over "would". But still I want to know if anyone knows when and how to use these two words. I'd appreciate any help.
