37. It is more desirable to have some form of socialized medicine than a system of medical care relying on the private sector. Socialized medicine is more broadly accessible than is private-sector system. In addition, since countries with socialized medicine have a lower infant mortality rate than do countries with a system relying entirely on the private sector, socialized medicine seems to be technologically superior.

Which one of the following best indicates a flaw in the argument about the technological superiority of socialized medicine?
(A) The lower infant mortality rate might be due to the systems allowing greater access to Medical care
(B) There is no necessary connection between the economic system of socialism and Technological achievement.
(C) Infant mortality is a reliable indicator of the quality of medical care for children.
(D) No list is presented of the countries whose infant mortality statistics are summarized under the two categories, "socialized" and "private-sector".
(E) The argument presupposes the desirability of socialized medicine, which is what the Argument seeks to-establish.

Please explain your reason behind chosing the OA.

I feel C should be the flaw here.

This is another of those questions where you have to read what is being asked very closely. From just reading the passage and quickly glancing at the question you get the idea that the question wants you to find the flaw in the pushing of socialized medicine. But the question is not asking that. Its asking about the conclusion about technical superiority of socialized care. All you need to know from the passage is the following:

1. Infant mortality is less with socialized medicine so socialized medicine is technically superior

A. Correct. If people have more access to health care odds are there will be less deaths. It has nothing to do with the medicine itself being superior, just the fact that more people see a doctor.

B. Incorrect. He is not comparing economics here.

C. Incorrect. This is the one that looks the most appealing and will be the answer if you dont read carefully. His argument is about all medical care, not just that for kids. This statement is just talking about kids health

D. Incorrect. Unimportant to the conclusion. Country by country breakdowns will not help here.

E. Incorrect. Desirability of the social care has no bearing on the technical superiority of the social care.

But the argument clearly states that - countries with socialized medicine have a lower infant mortality
