Question about scoring GMAT practice tests

by jjf » Sat Dec 11, 2010 11:46 am
I am new to the GMAT world and have a question.

I am following the 60-day gmat study guide and took my first GMAT practice test. I have a MAC so I took a Kaplan CAT instead of the suggested GMATPrep CAT. I have noticed that everyone that lists their practice test score on here always have individual Verbal and Quant scores in addition to an overall score. The individual scores are usually in the 30's or 40's.

On my first Kaplan CAT I received a 610. The Verbal was 51% correct and in the 56th percentile and the Quant was 64% correct in the 61st percentile. With an overall 69th percentile. I know they are low, but my question is how do I convert these percentages into the individual scores.

Thanks in advance!!

Well, there is no legitimate method of converting raw score to full score. I know the GMAT PREP doesn't work on Mac and its unfortunate. Use a friend's machine and give the GMAT prep. Its the sole software which mirrors the actual GMAT.

Thanks Karan for your response!
Actually, it is not a raw score. I have online access to the Kaplan course. So, it was a legit Online CAT, but it does not give the hard verbal and quant scores. Only percent correct and percentile.

I am not sure if there is a conversion or if I am missing something. Since 51 is the top quant score and with my low 610 score, I am sure my 61 percentile quant is not my hard score.

Thanks Night reader!
That is exactly what I was looking for. I guess I didn't realize there was a big difference between all the tests.
I have access to 9 Kaplan CATs so I might as well utilize them.
