Nordlingen sports car

by kushal.adhia » Fri Oct 29, 2010 3:02 am
The Nordlingen WE luxury sports car uses a special imported rosewood in the extensive wood trimming of its interior. Unfortunately, trade sanctions imposed on the nation that is the primary supplier of that type of rosewood has resulted in a considerable increase in price of the now extremly rare commodity. Purchasers of new models of the Nordlingen WE can expect to see that increase reflected in an increase in the Nordlingen's ticket price.

The conclusion above is based on which of the following assumptions?

A. The price of the Nordlingen WE would not have risen even if trade sanctions hadn't been imposed on the primary supplier of the Nordlingen's rosewood.

B. The price of rosewood is a major contributing factor to the Nordlingen WE's ticket price.

C. More of the imported rosewood is used for the Nordlingen WE's wood trim than for any other domestic purpose.

D. The imported rosewood will continue to be used for the wood trim in new models of the Nordlingen WE.

E. There was no some reason for the imposition of trade sanctions on the primary supplier of the rosewood of sufficient importance to outweigh the concerns of domestic rosewood customers.

OA is D

some help please..

hi........D it is

imported rosewood is used......in Nordlingen WE luxury sports car interior ......but trade sanctions on primary supplier of imported rosewood (a rare commodity) means a there is considerable increase in its price..... this increase means that if the rosewood now is used the price of the car will go up and this price will be borne by the Purchasers of new models.......and the conclusion states... Purchasers of new models of the Nordlingen WE can expect to see that increase reflected in an increase in the Nordlingen's ticket price

thus the assumption is that The imported rosewood will continue to be used for the wood trim in new models which is D

btw ..it should read As Purchasers of new models of the Nordlingen WE can expect to see that increase reflected in an increase in the Nordlingen's ticket price.

alternatively.....if you negate D.....then if rosewood is not used then the price should go down but it didn't hence the argument falls

Cut to cut - the bold statement is the conclusion - the We can expect to see that (wood's price) increase in the Car ticket price

The conclusion above is based on which of the following assumptions?

A. The price of the Nordlingen WE would not have risen even if trade sanctions hadn't been imposed on the primary supplier of the Nordlingen's rosewood.

This is inverse of the conclusion - out of scope

B. The price of rosewood is a major contributing factor to the Nordlingen WE's ticket price.

Nowhere, it is mentioned about any major contributing factor

Remember - although it is mentioned "in the extensive wood trimming of its interior" - but this doesn't mean that wood is the major contributing factor for the ticket price - which is a showroom price.

C. More of the imported rosewood is used for the Nordlingen WE's wood trim than for any other domestic purpose.
Out of Context - Nowhere is their any bias with regard to ratio of usage, or compared with anyother thing like domestic purpose - out of scope....way of out of scope

D. The imported rosewood will continue to be used for the wood trim in new models of the Nordlingen WE.

This clearly infers , that the use of imported rosewood will continue - that's simple and logical

E. There was no some reason for the imposition of trade sanctions on the primary supplier of the rosewood of sufficient importance to outweigh the concerns of domestic rosewood customers.
( This doesn't seem like conclusion --- WOW - please note - nothing has been mentioned about "domestic rosewood customers" - although it is referred in 2 out of 5 options - this junk is out of the scope )

Hope this helps.

Got it. Thanks a lot aspire_mba and gmatrix.

I assumed that the increase in the price of the wood caused the increase in the price of the car and chose B..
