On a Saturday night, each of the rooms at a certain motel was rented for either $40 or $60. If 10 of the rooms that were rented for $60 had instead been rented for $40, then the total rented motel charge for that night would have been reduced by 25 percent. What was the total rent the motel actually charged for that night?
A) $600
B) $800
C) $1,000
D) $1,600
E) $2,400
I feel as if this should be a ratio question. Please help!

lets say that there be A rooms for which they charge 60$,and B rooms for which they charge 40$.
Now the total amount they get is
x=60*A+40*B
now if 10 rooms for which they charge 60 they charge 40 than total cost is reduced by 25% i.e
0.75x=60*(A-10)+40*(B+10)
solving those 2 equations we get
0.25x=200
x=800.
so answer is B
