Solution A is 20% salt and solution B is 80% salt. If you have 30 ounces of solution A and 60 ounces of solutionB, in what ratio could you mix solution A with solution B to produce 50 ounces of a 50% salt solution?

20% is 1/5 and 80% is 4/5

The question can be expressed in this equation:

(1/5) A + (4/5) B = (1/2) (A+B)

Simplify the equation, and eventually, you'll get

3B = 3A

The question asks for the ratio A/B:

A/B = 3/3 = 1

Pick the answer choice where the ratio is 1; 4:4
