At a certain picnic, each of the guests was served either a single scoop or a double scoop of ice cream. How many of the guests were served a double scoop of ice cream?
1. At the picnic, 60 percent of the guests were served double scoop
2. A total of 120 scoops of ice cream were served to all guests at the picnic.
My questions is: Is double scoop = 2 single scoops? or a double scoop is a scoop of its kind and a single scoop is second kind?
Let x= served single scoop, y=served double scoop
If we consider double scoop = 2 single scoops
from 1: 2y=3x
from 2: x+2y=120
therefore C
If we consider double scoop(d) as one kind and single scoop(s) as another kind
from 1: 2y=3x
from 2: s+d=120
therefore E

I think in this case it is safe to assume that a double scoop is "2 single scoops" as they have mentioned universal, general terms "single" and "double" (which to most mean 1 and 2). the answer should be [C].iamseer wrote:At a certain picnic, each of the guests was served either a single scoop or a double scoop of ice cream. Anything more exclusive (can't think of examples at the moment) would apply to more debate.

QUESTION HOW MANY GUESST SERVED A DOUBLE SCOOP?
1.60% of the guest were served double scoop.
since we dont know how many quest are there so can not calculate 60% so NOT SUFFICIENT.
2. a total of 120 scoops of ice cream were served to all quest
it doest not give any information that 120 scoops were given to how many quests.
so even combining 1 and 2 we cant calculate how many quest served a double scoop
so 1 and 2 combining we can get the answer so E should be the answer
if answer is sumthing else plz explain where i am wrong?
