Hello everyone,
my GMAT test, taken in Rome, was affected by a technical problem, that didn't allow me to answer the last question (n.41) of the Verbal section. That is to say, with more than 1 minute for the last question, it was left blank, against my will: the screen timer suddenly skipped to 00:00. I reported it at the test centre, where an incident was reported. I also wrote to Pearson Vue. My gmat result was 570 (37 quantitative, 30 Verbal). Could anyone tell me how much this anomaly affected my verbal section and my Overall Score? As read everywhere, even on the GMAT official bulletin "...your score will decrease significantly each unanswered question".
I hope Pearson VUE will do everything to correct the error, as they state in the bulletin. Please, can someone give me some suggestions about what to do now? I will even ask help to my layer, hoping he may help me, in this tricky situation.
the test skipped to the end automatically...570

There are so many factors at work in determining your GMAT score that it is unclear to precisely indicate what effect skipping an answer had on your final score.
That being said, skipping an answer is known to have more serious effects on your GMAT scoring than answering that last GMAT question incorrectly.
I hope that Peterson VUE helps correct this issue. Please keep us updated, I never heard of any experiences like this by other members!

I hope you have more success by contacting PearsonVUE. I also suffered under an incident in the test center in Zurich. But there it wasn't a technical problem, it was just that the operator had lunch during people were taking the test and missed to watch the screens or the people. During my 2nd break i wanted to go to the toilet, therefore clearly raised my hand and nothing happened. after 9 1/2 minutes the operator came and i could go to the toilet, 30 second before my break was over. In Zurich in toilets are also 2 levels down and I really ran, but still missed 2 1/2 minutes from my verbal section. And you know how much 2 1/2 minutes can be during the GMAT.
This all happened on January 7th 2009 and the center wrote an incident report to PearsonVUE some days later (I have a copy of it). In the last month I already wrote 3 Emails to the European customer support and one to the American customer support and neither I nor the test center got any response from PearsonVue yet. This test is so expensive and they guarantee that you can write it under ideal conditions without any disadvantages compared to other candidates, but if an incident occurs nothing happens.
Does anyone maybe have another contact to PearsonVue or idea what could help me in this situation? Thank you!

Those are unfortunate problems, and I can't offer any help in dealing with Pearson. My understanding, though it isn't easy to find official information on the subject, is that your score is affected proportionally when questions are left unanswered. So if your last question in the Verbal section was left blank, you probably lost about 2.5 percentile points, or one scaled score point.

I got an answer from the European customer support today! My case is still being revised by the programme coordinator...
