archaeologists in Ireland believe that a recently discovered chalice, which dates from the eight century, was probably buried to keep from being stolen by invaders.

a. to keep from

b. to keep it from

c. to avoid

d. in order that it would avoid

e. in order to keep from

ans:b

i felt option c to be right. The book has ruled out this option as"This suggests that the chalice acts to prevent its own theft. The pronoun is needed for clarity.

I have a doubt..when the sentence says" was probably buried" does it nt rule out the possibility that "the chalice acts to prevent its own theft".

pls explain
