Public's interest

by yash_agg2001 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 2:21 pm
Please find attached a question from Kaplan(Advanced Version).

Please comment on the answer, particularly between option B & D. Whether "that are bringing" refers to television shows or to public's interest.[/img]

IMO E. B and D have "ing" in the verb. rule of thumb, whenever you have to choose between "ing" and regular verb, go with the later. except, when you are choosing between Which, that, or a verb with "ing" to madify a noun or a clause.

In this case, I use bring.

between B&D.. I would go with D
B: a booming market for reality television..that are ...market is singular so it must go with is (and not are)

refer OG #116 ... the furniture market problem...
this problem has S-V agrement in 2 places...

first should be has rather than have and next should be is rather than are...as that refers to market and not the shows....
