E is the best answer as the modifiers "published...'

& "selling several thousand copies.." should be closer to Maple leaf..

D is confusing...

D is wrong bc "published in 1899...": what/who was published? The megazine or Scott?

Go with E.

Ans : E

You need to ask the question "What was an instant hit"? to know what it modifies. megan leaf raga - "published in 1989" was an instant hit.

E is the correct choice. D is wrong because the colon (:) forces a seperate clause which starts with 'it'. The pronoun doesnt have an antecedent and hence the option is wrong.
