i narrowed down to D and E and chose the one which was happened to be correct , but not able to give reason for the wrong one . can any one help. i will post the OA later . pls provide reason for rejecting the choice

E is the best answer as the modifiers "published...'
& "selling several thousand copies.." should be closer to Maple leaf..
D is confusing...

E is the correct choice. D is wrong because the colon (:) forces a seperate clause which starts with 'it'. The pronoun doesnt have an antecedent and hence the option is wrong.
