SC 2003 vs SC Latest (2008)

by rajibgmat » Sat Dec 06, 2008 6:17 pm
Hi,

Like others I also want to buy the latest version of Manhattan Sentence Correction guide, but I already have 2003 edition of the same. Are there major differences between the two and would it be worth buying the new one ?

Thanks.

Hi rajibgmat,

I'm slightly confused. To my knowledge, we have not released 2003 editions of our Strategy Guides - just the 2005 edition, 2007 edition, and now the Third edition. In any case, there are significant differences between the 2007 edition guide and the Third edition guide for Sentence Correction. You can view a summary of all the changes we have made to our guides (including Sentence Correction, of course), on our Third Edition Walkthrough.

Thanks Naveen. I already purchased the 3rd edition (or 2009 edition). It gave me access to 6 CATs and 25 additional SC questions online.

Hi,
at the end of each chapter a couple of OG questions are specified. questions which pertain to that chapter.

2003 edition has questions from 10th OG. which OG edition questions does this one has?

it should be 11th edition, but do confirm.
Thanks.

Hi roadside_cafe,

The questions in the 3rd edition of the Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides refer to the 11th edition of the Official Guide.

Hope this helps!

Hi Michael

I have got 5 Free CATs with the Manhattan SC Strategy Guide that i bought. But am not sure whether the essays in those CATs will be graded by Manhattan GMAT Prep. Can you kindly throw some light on it.
Thanks

Hi Ujjaval,

Our guides come with 6 CATs - not 5 - did you by any chance already complete the Free Practice Test found on our website and are just not counting it?

In any case, though, the 6 CAT exams that come with our Strategy Guides are exclusive to Manhattan GMAT and are graded based on a computer algorithm that we tried to match up with the GMAT's real algorithm as closely as possible.

The AWA, however, is not graded by a person at the company. Instead, we tell students that they would benefit more from purchasing a copy of GMAT Write from mba.com. GMAT Write uses the same essay grading algorithm found on the GMAT and will always be more accurate in determining your real score than a human grader.

For 9-Session Course students, a copy of GMAT Write comes with the course, but if you are studying only using the books, then you would have to pay $30 for the software, an investment well worth the money if you are concerned about your performance on the AWA on test day.

I hope this helps!
