Hi, Was Going through the newspaper today , there was a article on the front page (GMAT just got tougher ). with the addition of 300 new questions.break up . Sentence correction : 57 new questions, Critical Reasoning : 50 new Questions, Reading Comprehension : 43 New Questions, Data Sufficiency : 94 New Questions, Problem Solving : 56 New Questions. there also has been some deletions , CR : 50 Questions deleted, P.S : 19 Questions Deleted, R.C : 2 biology Passages replaced by one Social Science and one Business related. In Sentence Correction there is an increased emphasis on pronoun and modifier rules while there is a reduction on comparisons and idiom related questions. Also inference questions has increased significantly so what do you say ? has it really got tougher ??
hi.. which newspaper ru talkin abt? Im from India as well
IMO, the news has confused the changes made to the 12th edition OG rather than the pattern of the GMAT.
I guess u could correlate the two, but I dont think its tougher. Just that the emphasis has been shifted a bit. Go to manhattangmat's website, and they have a thorough rundown of the changes in the latest 12th edition OG.

I took it recently after having taken it two years ago. I can tell you that, honestly, it hasn't got anymore difficult. Perhaps questions are a li'l different (but just perhaps), but in general, it's all the same.
Beat The GMAT - 1st priority
Enter a top MBA program - 2nd priority
Loving my wife: MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL!
REAL THING 1 (AUG 2007): 680 (Q43, V40)
REAL THING 2 (APR 2009): 720 (Q47, V41)

The TOI did a crappy job of reviewing the OG-12.
Neither the GMAC website nor the MBA.com website has any article relating to this change and i find it hard to believe that of all the newspapers in the world, TOI go an insider scoop.

I don't think it would be fair for the GMAT to get tougher as a 500 taken 5 years ago should be comparable to a 500 taken today.
However, I would hypothesize that the marks have gotten higher with so many vendors offering study guides. I believe the original intention was that the mean mark was to be 500. right now its' at about 535, with a median a tap lower than 550.
