Trust but verify.
The awarded number of $1250 scholarship is $37500/$1250=30.
According to the question,the number of $ 2500 scholarship is one-third of the number of $1250 scholarship. so 30/3=10.
The number of $4000 scholarship is half the number of $2500 scholarship.So 10/2=5.

This is just a disguised ratio problem
A=$1250 Schol.
B=$2500 Schol.
C=$4000 Schol
2B:1C & 3A:1b
Set these up as fractions and by canceling units we get 6A:1C
37500/1250=30=A.
Therfore, C=(1/6)A=5
