420 on GMATprep??BADLY need HELP

by kats6990 » Sun May 27, 2007 9:33 am
Hi

I am 29 and from Pakistan. I jus took the GMATprep test today after a week or so of preparation. Spent some time on Quantative, Maths portion and some review tests. And i took the practice test today and i score 420 (18percentile) which is to be honest quite unbelieveable for me. I felt the RC was really tough and the DS though looked easy, i am not getting a real hang of it.

Please Eric, can you help me chalk out a strategy for tackling DS. Also i was not taking the test under controlled conditions, disturbance was around as well and had a slight headache as well. And in between had lapses of concentration where i guessed(not educated guesses) but jus guessed.

420 for me is preeeeeeeetty low. Unbelieveable for me.

Hi Kats:

Check out the DS posts on the GMAT Study Blog: https://beatthegmat.blocked/search/ ... MAT%20Math - you can see the strategy I used to attack DS questions.

And check out the math resources on the GMAT Resource Wiki, https://www.beatthegmat.com/wiki/. There are some great strategy documents there for you to review as well.

Try not to get too frustrated--you're at the beginning of your prep! These concepts are not easy to master quickly. Just be diligent with your practice and put together a strong study plan for yourself and you can reach your goal. Best of luck!

Hi Eric

Thanx for the encouraging words. I already have downloaded the math review questions from wiki and DS questions. Am practicing them and trying to follow your strategy as well.

Are the DS and math review good 'nuff practice. Are they from KAPLAN OR OG?

Are you referring to the practice problems? I'm not sure of the origin...

Always best to practice with OG materials though.

The origins of these resources are unknown. They should be a supplement to OG, Kaplan, PR materials.
