well... I should be happy but.....

I scored a 46 on quant. All my practice tests had been 48-51... so a bit disappointed there.

scored a 44 on verbal

for a 720.

I know that is good enough but I can't help but feel unsatisfied.....

What are the repercussions of retaking the test?

Satisfaction will come when you are accepted into an MBA program.

You hit it right on the mark Harryb. I am just worried that given the stiff competition, a 720 will seem question ordinary. Perhaps I feel inadequate about the rest of my profile and feel compelled to create some buzz via an exception GMAT score.

thirst I actually know how you feel. Since you have been nailing the quant and you came too close to score 750+ and you did a great job with verbal and got lower than you expected in quant sick your stomach but...SCREW IT MAN! You are done with GMAT..

Go work on your applications..you beat the GMAT. Time to get into a school now!

logitech, you hit it on the nose..... I reported my scores to all the schools I wanted to apply to. I think I will take it again but elect to send scores to no schools. So that if I do worse, nobody will have to know. If I do better, I'll resend them.

It is more of a personal challenge rather than anything else. I am unsatisfied with a 46Q, i know I can do better. I was spending all my time studying SC that I didn't even touch Q the past couple of days...

720 is not ordinary IMO

If supplemented by a coherent application, can do wonders..

I think 720 lies in range for all top B schools

Do youn think its outside the range of any school.

I do agree that 720 is very competitive for all the schools, but... it is not exceptional. It puts me in the conversations, with the rest of my qualifications determining my candidacy. I was hoping for an exceptional score, to nudge the AdComs my way. =)

Plus my roommate scored a 750, so my competitive nature wants to do better..

I have decided that I am going to retake the test.

720 and a retake? Really?

I know for a fact that I'd be guaranteed anywhere with a 720. I wouldn't bother with a retake unless you have a VERY weak profile.

I think my profile isn't uncompetitive, nor is it a shoe in for a top 5. More so than having addition to having a higher score possibly giving me the smallest of advantageous, I am mainly retaking the test because I feel like I can do better. I do not plan to elect to have the scores sent to schools. In some ways, I feel like I got beat up, and I feel challenged to tame it. If for nothing else, to improve my math and verbal skills.

If I don't retake the GMAT, I was going to prepare for the LSAT because I just have this itch I must scratch, to beat up one of these tests.....

This is a profile that I put together to seek evaluation from one of the admissions consultants on this site. https://www.beatthegmat.com/please-evalu ... 27625.html

You simply can't rule out anxiety.

A better GMAT score doesn't guarantee admission, but it may alleviate some of your anxieties about admission issues. However, 720 is competitive, it is the median score of most schools. So half of the people admitted have lower scores than you. I'd spend more time with my profile and forget GMAT forever.

Whatever you score on your next exam, you'll feel like retaking it, because you'll know that you can do better. Of course you can. But do you have to? Spend those 300 dollars on a weekend in a spa town or go skiing or do whatever pleases you. By retaking GMAT at this point, you'll only make GMAC richer but you won't make yourself feel better. Let go of the GMAT.

Oh, and there will always be some uncertainty about your application, whether it's right or not and whatever score you achieve on GMAT. Yoi have to let it go and see what happens. It's hard but there is no business without risk. Take it and forget GMAT. There's only one thing for sure in life: that handsome guy with the black robes and the scythe in his hand.
Freedom comes when you learn to let go,
Creation comes when you learn to say no.

Thanks for the valuable insight MarsellusW. I will take it to heart.

Happy new year everyone!

Edit: I've read online about one or a couple of schools giving feedback to candidates that had scored a 720 to retake the test....

any other encounters with this from anyone or people you know?
