Stmnt 2 independently is obviously insufficient as it gives only 1 of the variables.

Stmnt 1
Now, try plugging in 10, and -10 as values of p and r.

You will get different answers.

Hence, stmnt 1 independently is also insufficient.

Now, together try 1, 10

The answer is the same.
