Indian/IT/Males applicants league

by aim-wsc » Tue Sep 09, 2008 10:03 am
Hurray there we go!! Indian IT Males huh! 8) oh yeah! I know we have bunch of them on this forum, perhaps the largest proportion among all the active members belongs to this category & that's why I am initiating this thread.
If you're applying for MBA this season (for class 2011/ for course begin in fall 2009) join in!
Share your profile, your experience, the list of b-schools you're applying to, and anything you want to mention.
Lets sail through this procedure together! We are here to support each other, right? that's where the forums comes in.
Join the league.

...To warm myself up for this topic, I published an article on my blog .
Don’t make wrong conclusions after reading it… I am in no way discouraging you. & my intention of starting this thread is not to frighten or demoralize you. In fact I want to let you know that I am with IIMs, (I mean I am with Indian IT Males) & in this thread I'll try to address some common issues MBA applicants with "Indian IT" background face during application process.

I might also request some of our resident MBA consultants to scribe the general tips for this pool of applicants here.
In mean time, join the league.

P.S.] Female applicants too can join ;) no restriction, I used male term because it shortens to IIMs nothing against females

This space(post#2) is reserved for my article dedicated to you guys.

Unfortunately I am signing off right now. …something came up which will keep me away from the forums (and the cyberspace in general) for two weeks. I promise I'll be back, & bring some experts' advices.

Looking forward to see sea of IIMs here ;)

@ajaypatil
your list of colleges are impressive, aim higher for GMAT buddy, you deserve more ;)

& yes you should change that sign & be flexible. Sometimes doing MBA from US is not the best option.

ah Bangalore!! you're hard-core IIM then ;)

I used to follow clearadmit blog on its left column there are all application deadlines mentioned. Most of traditional MBA programs in USA are of 2 years.

Hey Indian IT Males -

While you face an uphill battle (since your applicant pool is SO competitive), really think about how to best differentiate yourself. What makes you different from the thousands of Indian IT/Eng applicants that will apply to the same schools with similar stats, profiles, overall greatness!

Best of luck... and let us know if you have any specific questions.

Regards,

NP

Another common IIM

by sahanip » Fri Nov 14, 2008 1:11 pm
Hello All.... good that I have found you guys.. I was in serious dillema for GMAT...

I appeared GMAT June 2008 .. got 660 :-( (Pretty low). that was only 2 days of prep....

I knew this was the worst I can secure and the only way from here for me is UP... ....

So decided to give another try .. better prepared......

Some info about me

3.1/5 Undergrad score
IT exp. 2 yrs 5 months
Onsite (UK) 1 yr (till date)
Currently doing some consultancy and providing Process implementation, feedback and inputs.
Comp Sc. Btech.
Working with one of the top 3 Indian IT comp.
Client is UK's largest Insurer. Average understanding of Life insurance products. Customer service etc...

If not great doing good at Job front...

Now I know I need to score atleast the 730-40 mark to get a call in the top 10 US college...

for this I deferred my plans for class of 2011. I am now planning for 2012 CLass ... to be very honest here I am plannin to appear again march/apr 2009 but to join in 2010 Sep... as I have still not got over of the last misery of june.(660 score)

I have a thought of applying
- UCLA
- Duke
-Haas
-NYU stern
-Tuck

Non US (just got in love with europe)

-LBS
-IMD
-ISB hyderabad.

now the dilemma is how to remove the cold feet for appearing, when and the challenge of being a common IIM.

this place is great expect some help !!
