if b is the product of three consecutive positive integers c, c+1, c+2, is b a multiple of 24?

1. b is a multiple of 3
2. c is odd

Deepa,
I think the OA is wrong. With options as is the answer is E)

To prove if 24 * k(some integer) = b

Stmt I

b = 1 2 3

b is not a multiple of 24

b= 2 3 4

Yes b is a multiple of 24

INSUFF

Stmt II
c is odd

b = 3 4 5

b is not a multiple of 24

b = 23 24 25

b is a multiple of 24

Stmt I and II together

b = 1 2 3

NO

b = 23 24 25

YES

insuff

Stmt I is infact reduntant since the product of n conseuctove integers is divisible by n!

So we know b is divisible by 6 therefore definitely divisible by 3

I would check the source!

Thx Ramya.

This sum is from 1000 DS. I was confused on seeing A as the answer. Probably the answer key is wrong.

My vote is for E.

The problem with 1000DS or in fact any 1000 series is that we dont know which answer is right and which wrong. This would trip us sometimes!Its always good to get it clarified through this forum.

Same with sets 1-30.

Good luck!
