Hi! How do I write a longer essay? Thank you for your time!
The best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership in government, industry, or other fields is by instilling in them a sense of cooperation, not competition.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
It is accepted that a successful leader is someone who is a highly competitive individual. This quality is praised and cultivated as early as primary education years. However, the author of a statement feels that instilling in students a sense of teamwork and cooperation would be a better preparation for leadership roles in government and industry. Clearly, both good people skills and assertion of ones abilities are crucial in a leader, however cooperation is the key to an effective leadership.
The primary advantage of a cooperative leader is his or her ability to bring out the best in each player on a team. By being respectful, attentive and interested in ideas of others, the leader can capitalize on the strengths and creativity of others.
Secondary, in a cooperative team each player can temporarily assume other player's role or give his role up without fear of losing one's status in the team. It is a stable model which allows each individual to grow professionally as well as emotionally.
However, competition is crucial whenever there is a new discovery to be made. It is probably the most important quality that makes humanity progress the way it does. It is an intrinsic human quality that should be carefully nurtured and developed.
To sum, cooperation is a prerequisite for any successful leadership in government and industry and this skill should be taught to all students.
