parallels the argument

Patrons of a new restaurant suffered from food poisoning; therefore, all restaurants should be inspected before they are allowed to open.
Which of the following arguments most closely parallels the argument above?

A. Because many new diets do not produce the results claimed by their authors, new diets should be carefully tested by dieters under medical supervision.
B. Although smoking has not been proven to cause lung cancer, the correlation between smoking and lung cancer is so persuasive that cigarettes should be banned.
C. The new trucks, designed with gas tanks over the wheel wells, have exploded in several collisions; therefore, the company will be named in a number of lawsuits.
D. Food poisoning can be caused by a number of factors, some of which are nearly impossible to prevent.
E. A large corporation was found to have significantly underpaid its 1993 taxes; the Internal Revenue Service should audit every large corporation to ensure that all claims and deductions are legal.

OA is E

broad outline of the stimulus: one member of a group was found to have a negative quality, so all members in the group should be examined

only E follows the same oultine as in the stimulus: one large co. underpaid taxes, so all companies must be examined.

Scoobydooby's approach to the question is correct; for parallel reasoning questions, the key is to look for a 1:1 match of the elements in the stimulus and the elements in the answer choices. If the stimulus is extreme (uses words like "all" or "none) then the answer choice generally will be extreme too; it won't depend on milder words like "most" or "few." That idea is at play here, since the stimulus talks about "all restaurants" and the correct answer discusses "every large corporation."
