Online Class or One Day Workshops?

by niraj_a » Sun Sep 28, 2008 2:35 pm
hello,

i have taken the gmat twice studying on my own and using the OG and MGMAT guides, and have not scored upto my goal. Here are my official scores -

Sep. 27, '08 - 600 Q41 V31
Jun. 28, '08 - 560 Q37 V30

so now i intend to take the test one last time by the end of october so i can make the R2 deadlines of the top 20 schools i am targeting.

my quant score is in line with my MGMAT CATs and Gprep, my official verbal scores baffle me because i have consistently scored in the 40s in the practice tests.

seeing my timeline and test experience, if you could advise me which MGMAT course would be appropriate for me, that would be great. i am trying to choose between taking all of the 4 one-day workshops in October, or signing up for the earliest online course.

i live in bloomington, indiana so unfortunately i do not have access to a real live mgmat class.

please advise soon. thanks!

Hi niraj_a,

First off, I think it would be advantageous to re-assess your timetable because if you want to achieve a 700+ or even a 650+ to apply to Top 20 Business Schools, you will most likely need to spend more than a month preparing for the exam again. I've read that many schools have their second round deadlines at the end of December / beginning of January, so it would be best if you took the full amount of time to prepare. Additionally, you need to take the proper steps to ensure that you are using your study time efficiently and effectively since it's crunch time.

Personally, I feel that you would benefit the most from a Live Online 9-Session Course. In this course, you will learn the content behind the exam that will be the most useful in helping to increase your score. If you sign up for the next class, Live Online Fall E 2008, you will finish on December 1, 2008, with just enough time to take the exam once again. With this option, you can study for the GMAT and complete your applications in a measured time period.

If you wish to finish slightly earlier on November 24, 2008, then you should sign up for the Live Online Accelerated A 2008 class, which covers the 9-Session course in half the time - just 4 weeks. With the accelerated class, you need to be sure that your applications are done before the class begins (October 27th) because you will not have enough time to fully dedicate yourself to studying and applying for business school.

While enrolling in our 3 Advanced Workshops might seem like a good idea, you should only take these classes if you are at the cusp of your score goal and need a little extra to boost you over. Judging by your current score and where you want to apply, you would need to take a full class.

Finally, if you are way of signing up for a Live Online Class, please feel free to attend a Free Preview or Trial, which allows you to sample the online platform before you commit to a course.
