Hi,

My mgmat score for four tests have been ( Q-43-44 , and V from 28-32 ) , so i have been scoring 600-620 in the last four tests.

Now i have to take quant from 44 to 48, and verbal from 32-36/37.

I am weak at DS - so am working on it, my PS is OK

I am weak at CR and RC, so re-working on strategy for the same... my SC is ok

Now, i have decided to give next 5 days to Quant and 3 days to verbal , and then start taking tests

Please suggest, when i practice area individually i score well.. .but when i take it in form of exam... make silly mistakes.

how do i increase stamina

thanks

I'd say the most important thing you can do, honestly, is not focus on those practice test scores. There are so many stories of people either scoring highly on practice tests and being disappointed with their actual scores, or scoring lower on practice tests and then being pleasantly surprised by their real GMAT score. I was in the latter camp - I just stopped taking practice tests, because I didn't want "their" number in my head . . . I wanted the score that I was aspiring to in my head.

You seem to have identified the areas to concentrate on, so just get cracking and picture yourself succeeding!

thanks very much for your reply

you wont believe , but this is what was going in my mind also... one thing is sure that i can not delay my gmat now... so i am not a stage where i can actually evaluate and can take decision for the test.

But, the bigger Question now is how to i build stamina then.. ?? the difference between my score of 640 and 600 is that i had 15 mins left when i completed my verbal, the reason is i was getting exhausted with the flow of time.

I know if i would have given time accordingly ,i would have surely scored well.. i understand this is the worst mistake one can do... :( , but its good that i did it in practice tests.

I really wanna increase my stamina ... how do i do that ? do you think i should practice as per the 37/41 question slot, without looking at score ??

the mock test scores really affect the motivation level... atleast to me they do... i was terribly demotiavated when i scored only 600 in mgmat 3 after 640 of mgmat 2.

Please help.....

Hi appking,

There are various ways you can use to practise for your GMAT. You might need to change your
practise style and try this combination to provide you flexibility and different styles to practise so
it doesn't get monotonous.

It could be combination of-

1-Books- Books like- The Official Guide for GMAT Review, The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal
Review, The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review etc could be used.

2-Online Study Guide: Websites like Knewton, Grockit etc provide you with practise questions
online.

3-Smart phone applications- Kaplan, Veritas etc offer applications to prepare for GMAT on your
smart phones

Couple of things.. Stamina is all about practice. Make sure you are taking full length exams. Even when you are doing practice work, go through problems in sets of 40 before you check your answers. As far as the material, make sure during your review you truly understand how the solution is arrived upon. Don't just plow through once you see the correct answer - very common mistake.
