I am disappointed but taken into my stride as one need to take with all dissapointments the things in life.

Yesterday, I was supposed to take GMAT test which I have scheduled almost month ago.

but since my first name is abridged when I register compared with my Passport and Drivers License,

Perason guys didnt let me to take test. Now I need to call GMAC guys tomorrow and figure out either i need to register again and can reclaim my $250 or edit my registration name to the one i have on my passport.

I wonder sometimes, when terrorist are able to get into flight with underpant bombs, genuine people like me are getting trouble to write GMAT exam due to first name is shortned to first three letter instead of eight lettes what is there in my passport. ofcourse, last name is matching.

Wow this is a bizarre problem, I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you. Thanks for keeping us updated--please let us know what the GMAT program coordinator says when he/she gets back to you.

I really really hope that this gets resolved soon so you can get your GMAT out of the way. :(

Thanx eric for support.

I am guy with lot of difficulty got motivated to get back to school and used to have fear of taking standard exams, now put my money, time into gmat and go to test like 300 warrior and was told that i am not allowed to take exam due to my negligence of not registering with full form of my first name.

on top of that, Gmac guys taking time to respond my situation is ridiculous and now i dont see another month to schedule my exam.

lets see how things will roll out,

Thanx Eric once again.

I called Pearson guys and every time, call goes to India, agents with fake accents, i got response that they wont return my money $250 USD back, i should reschedule with paying again $250 again.

I am new to this part of world, I am IT guy with 13 years of experience with Incomplete MBA from India, worked as Project Manager in the Past with Billion Dollar company and now trying to get back to school and getting this bitter experience.

I am feeling like Ass H** for registering with first 3 letters of my first name instead of eight letter, funny thing is where I am working as employee in major IT company for the year and half, i am getting paid with 3 letters of my first name.

another experience with Pearson guys when I told agent getting $250 is not big deal as I paid thru credit card and i just need to call credit card company and they will return my money back, fake acceng girl in India said, i cant get my money back and i should try to understand their policy.

sorry folks, I had great opinion on Gmat but still do, these test center conducting guys creating problem.

I have done paritial MBA, as per Business Law, since my transaction of writing test has not conducted, i am entitled to get my money back.

this is my second hurdle, first one being some issue with Veritas Prep when I enrolled their course but eventually got resolved.

I get a feeling that Students are not treated with respect unlike working folks since we kick their butt if someone does foul play in our business activities or daily Life and I sincerely thank America for giving me this confidence and fighting for the right.

I tried to contact Operating Officer, VP of Testing Services at Person based in Minesota, but not able to get any of them.

only reason, i want to go soft and easy route to retake test without paying additional amount since I want to take Gmat and do MBA and dont want get bad blood, otherwise, my case stands hold good in court as I am getting paid at my present company with first name as 3 letters, what to do we need to shorten our names otherwise, some amercians have tought time to pronounce my name or i might be trying to blendin in this culture.

Note: When I started preparing for Gmat, and when I read so many profile of successful students, CEO's, WSJ etc, i am getting inspired to do lot of volunteer work etc but when I come across these kind of experiences i wonder we need to be good guys, why cant we suck the blood whenever we get an opportunity like these testing company is doing.

Also, I really liked this forum where it is helping so many students to get inspired and I get inspired a lot whenever I read these forums and khanacademy.org which Immensily admire who are doing so much volunteer work with out any profit, i wonder world is balance of good and evil.

Wow, I can't believe this is the response you've received. I have a contact at Pearson, and I will forward this forum message along with your e-mail to her. I hope that we can get a resolution to this.

Keep your head up, one day you'll look back at this experience as just a minor hiccup in your business school journey!

I faced a similar issue today when out of the blue the Test administrator refuses to allow me to take the test as according to them the name in my passport and application mis-match.

This is really so frustrating. Please let me know if you could resolve the issue.

Hi ppl,
I am a recent victim of the name issue. I was denied permission to take the test today(july 4 2012). i've been preparing for gmat all the way n finally am not allowed to take the exam. in the mba.com website i had given a middle name in the concerned field provided but as i have an indian passport which doesn"t have such a field even my middle name is considered as my first name. so eventually it was just the order which changed in the passport n i was denied permission. Please ppl take this as a lesson n please call the customer care ppl as soon as you book your gmat appointment to confirm your name. to add i am saked to schedule a new appointment n no refund is given. Hope it helps others.
Thank you,

Wish i had read your post 3 days back. Just back from test center without giving the exam. :(
I have raised the concern nevertheless.
Name mismatch seems to be a big problem, especially among Indian GMAT takers.
