Hi all GMAT gurus:

I have been preparing for GMAT very inconsistently due to other priorities and would like to know what I can do to better my scores.

I am practicing through the GMAT official review books, I have not done a test yet but so far I have done 800 questions for verbal part and I managed to get only 400 correct. It is also due to lack of concentration that I am not getting the answers right. But I would like to know from your experience what could be my standing on the GMAT real score band as per my report card for GMAT's official review book?

Does that mean I am answering only the easier questions and I am not absorbing the questions with a higher level of difficulty?

Moreover, I had planned on Applying for GMAT at Schulich School of Business on May1st but they require the GMAT scores to be given by end of May. My dilemma is that I am not sure if I should go ahead register for the test as I think I am unprepared and need to practice longer.

Personally, I would love to apply now because if I miss it now, I have to wait for the batch after fall that is slated for Winter 2009.

A friend of mine told me to write the test only once when I am sure I would get a decent score. If I do the test in May and get a bad score, and re-do the test again in August to get a better score. The school will have access to past scores and it will make my case weaker since as I would have taken the test more than once.

To summarize (1) Looking at the scores that I got off the official GMAT review book, which range of scores do I fall in for the GMAT test?
(2) Should I be careful about my strategy and resources(if any)?
(3) Should I jump in and do the test, or wait longer for better results?

I hope the Guru's would have some insights for me.

Thank you all.

Regards.

I think its not worth waiting for a year.

GMAT should not be that difficult and certainly doesn't need a full year.
