Need some advice on Verbal Section

by Boredguy1543 » Wed Oct 14, 2015 12:36 pm
So I have been studying for the Gmat for the past month now. I am currently not working, so I am studying about 8 hours a day.

For the past month, I have been using the Magoosh 1 month study plan. Using Gmat 12th edition and also the online questions on Magoosh.

The attachments are my result for OG and I totally bombed the SC section. I just picked up Manhattan Sentence correction book and will follow it religiously. Is there any other material I should use with Manhattan SC book to improve my verbal?

I plan on taking the exam on 10/31/15, however, I did not schedule it yet (a lot of free time slots open where I live).

My goal is to get 740+ on gmat. I have not taken any CATs or exams yet, because I would like to finish the Manhattan SC first and then see what my score levels are. Obviously if it's below 700 after reading through SC book, then I will not register to take it for another month.

Any useful advice on how to improve my verbal-- especially SC portion.

Hi Boredguy1543,

If you haven't taken any FULL-LENGTH CATs (including the Essay and IR section), then you should plan to take one soon. Until we have a 'baseline' score result to work with, we have no way of knowing how close you are to your score goal and what else you might actually have to work on.

Given your score goal, it's likely that you're going to need more study time than you've allotted, but we can talk about that in more detail once you've taken that first CAT.

It's pretty rare for test-takers to hit 700 on their first practice test, so don't be alarmed if you have reassess your game plan. I would suggest that your practice test be an official one from mba.com: https://www.mba.com/us/store/download-fr ... tware.aspx

And feel free to check out our lesson for SC: https://www.veritasprep.com/gmat/free-gmat-lesson/
