Hi,
I am starting my GMAT prep now (Sept 2015) and will be attempting my first mock test on 1st Oct.
I have now decided to see this MBA plan through to a degree.
But I am confused on how this MBA Admission procedure works. I am planning to take the GMAT in March 2016, will I be able to finish and complete the Application procedure of the chosen schools and universities and start the 2016 batch ?
I will be 28 in Sept 2016 and wish to finish my MBA by end of 2017.
Is it possible? Please guide me.
Thanks,
S R

That would be difficult, you would only be able to submit a complete application to the final rounds of schools, after you complete your GMAT. The final rounds usually have a tough admit rate. If you could move your GMAT up to December, and apply in the January rounds, you may do better. cheers, Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your reply. That is what I need to know actually so that I can have a concrete strategy and approach GMAT fully prepared.
If I apply in Sept 2016, will it be Round 1 for the Class of 2018 ?
Or if I apply in Jan 2016 would it be Round 2 for the Class of 2017?
Awaiting your reply.
Thanks again,
S R

Hi LateRunner,
If you apply by January 2016 (Round 2), you will start school in September 2016 and graduate from a 2-year MBA program in May 2018.
If you apply in September 2016 (Round 1), you will start business school in September 2017 and graduate from a 2-year MBA program in May 2019.
I know it can be a little confusing. I concur with Alex that it may be better for you to move your GMAT up to December (that's when I took it) and then apply in January. You could also just give yourself lots of time and wait until September 2016 to apply. However, that doesn't mean start your preparation in the summer of 2016. You should go ahead and keep moving forward with your GMAT prep and continue working on your applications through September 2016.
Best of luck!
Kaneisha

Hi Kaneisha,
Thanks for your reply.
If I apply in Sept 2016, school starts from Sept 2017. That is a lot of time in between, and all my further planning would be delayed. GMAT in Dec and Applications in January i.e. 2 months to prepare and 3 months to apply, this already is creating a fleet of butterflies in my stomach.
Hoping everything works out for the best.
Thanks Again,
S R

Welcome to the applications process! You won't be the first person to try and rush everything, but it will definitely test you. Think of it this way, you'll be preparing for those tough times in business school when you are trying to prepare for exams and interviews at the same time. My question though, why force it? Is there a reason you have to go to school now? Would make a much better application if you can take your time.
