Need big quant improvement..FAST!!

by KMart87 » Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:58 am
I am taking the GMAT on Friday after 2 weeks of extremely intense prep (8+ hours everyday). So far my results on exams have been:

Q33 V38 520 (with no prep at all)
Q38 V31 590
Q35 V39 610

My weak area is obviously Quant. I have two and a half full days to improve this score drastically. When looking back I think that most of the mistakes I am making are because I am pressed for time and do not read the questions carefully. I either say "Stupid Mistake!" or "Ohhhhh!!" when looking over the results.

So far I have been using OG12. When I do practice sets of questions I typically score 7-8 out of 10 on each type of question in Quant and roughly the same for Verbal.

I know I have some problem areas and try to work on those. I've been reviewing the index cards from this site, doing practice problems and taking practice exams.

What can I do to bring the quant up with about 22 hours of studying still in me? Should I get a Quant specific book? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I think its doable. If you have two weeks, buy and download the 4 quant books from MGMAT. Spend a week just drilling the material. If you have it spend up to 6 hours just learning the material. With the last week, attempt to do as many problems as possible. That is the way I would approach it.

OG 12 is good for Quant. Be aware that you read carefully. Don't be fooled by tricky questions!
