Low score in Pricneton Review exams

by crackitpal » Sun Aug 10, 2008 5:53 pm
Hello Everyone,

I need your advice on increasing my score on GMAT. I've been working on GMAT since quite some time now. I've used OG11 (3 sets), MGMAT sets and Princetorn Review. I started with Princeton Review online exams and results were not so good.

PR1: 500 - poor time management
PR2: 560 - I did better in time management but acuracy was bad
PR3: 570 - I made many sily mistakes, plus verbal was just 23.
PR4: 640 (I got many repeat questions here)

I scored maximum 42 (7 wrong) on MATH and 36(10 wrong) on Verbal. Does this mean that to get to more than 700 score, I can not make more that 2 to 3 mistakes in each section ? That sounds too much ? Can someone confirm this ? How many should I get correct on each section to score atleast 700 on GMAT ?

I've heard that PR online exams are supposed to be simple and there I'm not able to score, so my prospects in real exam looks bleak. I've been good in solving quant (both PS and DS) from OG 11 (both) books. I solve within time and get most of them correct. I found that OG11 Quant Review questions are very easy, if such questions come, I can score good, but PR questions are not always like OG. Some of them I can solve within few seconds and some of them don't click at all. I take more than 8 mins to find a way to solve and then in the end get that question wrong. I know that I'm not supposed to spend so much time on any of the questions, but one thought always keeps me bugging is what if I get too many questions wrong, then the score will drop and hence I've to spend more time on this question and get this correct. Could anyone from this forum help ? Stacey or Eric ? Please ?

BTW, I'm poor at RC. If I take long time (10 mins/ RC) then I get most of the questions correct, but if I rush, then more than 50% questions will go wrong.

Thank you, Crackitpal
