Application Essay Prompts
All applicants are asked to submit responses to two required essay questions. The third essay question
will be optional for most applicants, but if you are a re-applicant from the 2019 entry term then this
essay will be required.
Essay page limits are noted with each question below – please adhere to these limits. You should
include the applicable essay prompt at the top of the first page of each document. While there are no
formal font size and/or margin requirements, we ask you make sure that the documents will be easily
readable by members of the Admissions Committee.
Please type and save each of your answers in a separate word processing document (.pdf, .doc, and
.rtf formats accepted) and upload each essay where indicated in the online application.

What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? To the best of your ability, please describe the
type of position and type of organization you plan to target. How do your experiences to date align with
this goal? How will the Mays MBA program help you transform your future and impact your world?

Please detail two experiences – one professional and one personal – that have shaped you. What did
you discover about yourself through these experiences? (Maximum length – 2 pages, double-spaced)
Question 3
REQUIRED if you are a re-applicant from the 2019 entry term: Please provide the Admissions
Committee with an overview of how you have strengthened your candidacy since you last
applied. (Maximum length - 1 page, double-spaced)
OPTIONAL for all other applicants: If you would like to share additional information with the Admissions
Committee, please do so here. Suitable topics include gaps in post-college work experience and
