Improvement in SC! (650 to 710)

I gave the GMAT, two years ago with an organised prep. Going into the exam I thought time management would be my greatest issue as I knew I struggled in SC. During the verbal section, my fears materialised and I ended up with only being able to complete 25 questions in the section with a verbal score of 28 as I just marked the rest randomly.
When I planned to give the exam again this May, I asked around and was recommended the preparation course by e-GMAT and I'm thankful for that. Through the e-GMAT because online prep I was able to learn the core skills and concepts I needed to tackle verbal questions, especially the sentence correction questions. This boost proved to be pivotal to me this time around. I was able to complete the verbal section on time and scored a v34 with a great improvement in my score (710). I especially loved the video lectures and concepts with questions alongside them, enabling me to apply what I learnt.
It was a great experience!

Not an optimal GMAT preparation tool

June 9, 2019
  • Teacher: Payal Tandon
  • Recommended forVerbal: No  Math: No
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 560 After: 550

I started preparing for GMAT somewhere in Apr-17 by my own and given my first GMAT on 09-Sept-17. I had referred only one book -Princeton GMAT Review apart from the diagnostic test from official guide. I scored a score of 560(Q49, V17) which I cancelled as my target score was 650+. I asked few of my colleagues for my improvement in the score. They suggested to take e-GMAT course. I enrolled on 14-Sept-17 for this course. I judiciously completed complete verbal course and solved all the recommended official questions. I partially solved their verbal scholoranium. I also went through their Quant courses partially. Meanwhile I had scheduled my exam date which was 04-Mar-18. I got a score of 580 (Q49, V19). Again I cancelled my score as it was not meeting my minimum score criteria of 650. I took six month extension of their course to complete the Quant as well as scholaranium. I fully competed the quant course, completed Quant and verbal scholaranium to a great extend and brushed up the verbal portion. I again appeared for the GMAT on 04-Aug-18 and ended up with 550 (Q50, V16).

Whether e-GMAT course was not effective for my preparation?

I started systematic with e-GMAT course as per their recommended schedule. I simply printed their recommended time table and pasted it on the wall. I simply colored the portion i completed. It took me around 4 months to complete the sentence structure and another two month for critical reasoning and reading comprehension. The course material was assisted with the live sessions by their instructors. The recommended official questions numbers were listed which I solved as per the guideline. The sentence correction course is quite dense, CR was moderate and RC was only explained with help of 2-3 examples. Though I brushed up the concept related to GMAT questions through this course and got a quite good understanding about the question types and pattern but I failed to improve my verbal score. In case of quant, though I improved only from Q49 to Q50, I was quite comfortable solving the quant questions in my 3rd attempt.

e-GMAT verbal teach concepts of verbal but it fails to provide the skills to make one fast. Even it makes one quite slow in their approach as there is no time to use the recommended methodological approach. e-GMAT quant approach is also methodological which might make one slow but a person of math background can get one's concept brushed up and can manage to have some improvement in score.

e-GMAT doesn't provide any exclusive instructor as they have various instructors for different topics who conducts live session. Live sessions adds only limited value to the preparation and is not as effective as advertised.

Looking forward for improvement in verbal through further preparations.

FROM ZERO HOPE TO 710

I had the most terrible time last couple of months because of a family member's ill health. I had a few weeks of preparation before the exam date and this was my second attempt at taking the exam. I was extremely wary about the whole process but I enrolled myself in the e-GMAT online course. I'll be honest when I first went through the master comprehension course, I didn't believe in the process at all, It seemed too easy to do and that made me think it won't be very effective. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the SC and CR lessons, I took a couple of lessons a day regularly and did a bit of quants every day as well. The RC section always through me back ( In the test I did this section the best) and I tried different shortcuts during my preparation to get to the right answer but ended up failing. Towards the end I followed the e-GMAT process, though long and simple, it ended up being the most effective.

Every concept in the verbal section are explained clearly and there's always the ask expert column to seek out more help. I attended quite a few free webinars of e-GMAT as well before my second attempt. The webinars, the clear explanations on the course made me a little confident in the verbal section. This time around, I did show less focus on quants and that proved in my end score as well.

On the exam date, I strictly stuck to the process taught in the course. I took time reading the RC passages and understanding the meaning of every sentence I read. At the end of the verbal section, I knew I did better than the last time. The relief you fee when you know you did well in a section is difficult to explain. That relief is because of e-GMAT and I am extremely grateful for the help they gave and continue to give me.

Verbal
Subscribe to EGMAT Verbal course. Their great content is great and the analytics are pretty engaging. Tried and tested by yours truly. You will encounter two options, the Online Prep and the Live Prep. The difference between the two is that the Live Prep has additional three hour webinars on the weekends. No new concept is taught in these webinars, only the application part is strengthened by solving 4-5 questions collectively. Choose whichever option you like.

GMAT Verbal consists of three subsections ? SC (Sentence Correction), CR (Critical Reasoning) and RC (Reading comprehension). I would suggest that you start off with SC (time to complete approx. 4 weeks), after which your brain will probably get fried up and thus for pain relief, go to RC (pretty lame stuff, finishes in about a week) and at last take up CR (approx. 4 weeks). This entire time calculation depends on the assumption that you will be spending a quality 2 hour period each day on study and maybe double of that on the weekends.

On the EGMAT platform, you will encounter Concept files (which teach the theory), application files (IMO the most important since they teach you the application of the concepts learnt earlier via 3-4 questions), and practice files (questions from the EGMAT Scholaranium database). After this, there are topic wise questions to be solved from the Official Guide (OG) and the Verbal Review (OG VR).
In a nutshell here?s the Verbal approach for you - Concept < Application < Practice < OG < OG VR. Do this topic wise in each subsection (e.g. SC / CR / RC) and move ahead. By doing this you will comprehensively finish the topic wise content of the Verbal section.

At the same time, please, for the love of god, maintain an error log. An error log is simply a collection of questions which you attempted incorrectly. All the questions on the EGMAT platform have excellent in-built analytics so there is no need to log those. But the ones which you get wrong on the OG and the OG VR, do put them in. My preferred way is to take a picture or a snapshot and then paste it on a power point presentation. Make a small text box as to what you need to remember or where you faltered. Do this for the Quant section too.

Thus, for the Verbal section, the resources which will give you a comprehensive preparation are ?

An amazing course for Verbal preparation

I gave my GMAT more than a year ago, by self-study and that time I got a 710 score (Q50, V34). In the various mocks also I used to get scores around 710. As I was not satisfied with my performance, I decided to searching various coaching for GMAT preparation. I talked to various friends of mine and almost all of them told me about E-gmat and its very good Verbal course, particularly the Sentence Correction Module. E-gmat offers various courses for GMAT preparation and on the basis of advice from my friends; I took the Verbal Live Prep course of the E-gmat. Within a few months, I realised that advise of my friends were correct. The course has been designed so effectively that it helps us to learn & train for the Verbal part of the GMAT very easily and effectively. I was weak in RC and SC and both of my RC and SC have improved a lot after taking this course. The methodology of tackling RC has helped me to correct my previous strategy of taking RC , because of which I was weak in the RC. I will particularly appreciate the SC module which helped me to learn and improve on my Sentence Correction aspect. In this also E-gmat stepwise approach has helped me improve my accuracy, which was low before. The course has been designed in an interactive way and there are regular feedback given, so that we can effectively target which areas to work harder and improve on them. This regular interactive learning and feedback have particularly helped me to enhance the learning experience. There are so many questions of various types to learn about the concepts. The Scholaranium has so many questions of various difficulty levels to effectively select and target questions as per our choice to test ourselves, learn and improve and enhance our ability. My skills in RC and SC have greatly improved as I am regularly getting GMAT mocks score of about 740 or above, which is a great satisfaction and confidence booster for my actual GMAT exam which I am about to give soon.
In my opinion, I feel it?s one of the best courses on offer for GMAT preparation. Learning with E-gmat interactive platform is really awesome.

I rate this course as the best and advise all aspirants to take the E-gmat verbal course for improvement.

Thank you E-gmat for the learning !

Amazing GMAT resource for Verbal

e-GMAT is one of the most comprehensive resource for GMAT verbal section. For me, the SC and RC sections were most helpful both in terms of increasing my understanding of the subject and increasing my ability tackle GMAT like questions. The OG quizzes really stand out for me, the manner which all the OG questions for a given topic are all clubbed at the same place helped me to identify the different variants in which the concepts are tested in the real GMAT.

For SC
The concepts are easy to digest and once you start trusting the e-GMAT process , it does surely start to reap it's benefits. Although the process initially takes time, It took me about 2.5-3 mins to get through a SC question but with practice i was able to get that time down to 1;30-2 mins without any dip in my accuracy.

For RC
The reading strategies along with pre-thinking concept really helped me to setup a process to tackle any RC passage. As with SC initially my speed was really slow but with time i was able to read a passage with 35-40 lines comprehensively in under 4 mins.

I think the course is best suited for non-native English speaker who are not very clear about fundamental concepts.

i joined the egmat course after my first attempt in gmat. My scores were too low to be considered as optimal for a good B-school, heart broken i came across the e-gmat prep which provided question material about ones strength and weakness. i read some reviews about the course and was half convinced to join it . but after my interaction with e-gmat executives i was fully convinced that if there is any course that can help me in excelling the gmat exam will be this very course. without a doubt this course has helped me lot. I know I have converted my weakness into strength and made my concepts more strong all thanks to E-gmat and Payal Ma'am.

course details :

The course structure design is very good. . the personalized tutor is available every time and helps us to know every minute detail of every question which provides us with conceptual clarity. Every question is in par with the gmat exam question . i am saying it so because i have already appeared for gmat once.

My greatest weakness was comprehending a long and complex sentence correctly in verbal.
Master comprehension module helped me a lot to comprehend the meaning of a complex sentence .
SC,CR, and RC module are designed beautifully to make your base strong .
The concepts taught in these videos were very helpful not only to clear very basic doubts but also to tackle difficult questions.
I used to make notes while going through SC,CR, and RC module. And it helped me a lot during revision.
Verbal scholaranium is no doubt a great platform to know the ability.
The questions are too good in the verbal scholarinium.
I used the verbal forum in the later part of my preparation. It is really a nice platform to clarify very silly to tricky doubts.
I wrote my GMAT exam on 18th dec 2018. Since my target score is 730, I am planning to write the exam again to get 700 plus score sticking to my e-gmat verbal preparation.

I have taken the eGMAT verbal live prep course, and it has really helped me understand the structure of the questions in GMAT. The best part about the verbal live prep course is the detailed analysis of each question and the flexibility to get your doubts cleared by the instructor on the spot. What I enjoyed the most was the approach towards the CR questions. Earlier I had reffered to Manhattan for getting my concepts and approach but it didn't really help me. With eGMAT I am able to logically analyze the questions and apply the technique that I learnt through eGMAT. As the techniques are simple, I no longer feel under confident in approaching the hard level questions of GMAT. It has really helped me in grasping the structure behind the GMAT questions and accordingly approaching them with the right analytical ability.

EGMAT VERBAL LIVE PREP

GMAT PREP MOCK-- V25 to V41.
I enjoyed this course. E-gmat's Verbal live prep was a super helpful program. This course is so beautifully structured. It helped me improved from a V25 to V41 in just 3 months. I tried using several books and one other online source but I had a hard time using each of those because they didn't bring in the comprehensive learning approach that E-gmat's verbal live prep brings. When i started preparing for GMAT, Verbal was my biggest problem area and it was extremely difficult for me to understand why certain options were incorrect and one was correct. I could never never understand any logic behind it. I'll go through each section of E-gmat verbal live prep. The online modules and web recordings are all incredibly effective because of the interactivity. The interactive nature of the modules allow the user to learn and retain what you're learning. The architecture of the course is amazing. I definitely suggest live sessions. They provide so many useful tips.

While going through the verbal online course, initially I solved questions step by step as directed in the video lessons. But gradually, I had built some kind of intuition. I could check 2-3 aspects at once and it increased my speed in SC. The pre-thinking approach to CR also helped me a lot. Previously I was checking the answer choices again and again and still fumbling, but with pre-thinking, I could narrow down the choices and hence save on time considerably.

SENTENCE CORRECTION-
Sentence correction module is good as it covers the topics throughout, gives detailed and convincing explanations and helps in building the concepts. As you progress through the preparation, you will feel the need to come back to the SC lessons and that exercise will strengthen your concepts.

CRITICAL REASONING-
The approaches to be taken to solve Critical Reasoning Questions were cleary categorized and explained with examples. The pre-thinking approach was the best thing I came across for CR strategies.

READING COMPREHENSION-
I had earlier engaged in other GMAT prep material which were focused on techniques such as skimming through passages, reading only the first line of each paragraph and drawing inferences which although were quick weren't as effective. Again the simple advice of just take your time and comprehend the meaning of the passage really helped.

Thanks to Rajat sir. Your guidance, Methodical approach really help me to crack Gmat.

Kudos to e-gmat Team !!

I purchased the e-GMAT Live Prep Course which includes both quant and verbal. This course provides everything you need to get a decent score on the GMAT. The course layout is very well-organized. Each topic has some concept videos followed by application and practice quizzes. The quant section is very comprehensive, while the verbal section with their pre-thinking strategy is probably the best among all the GMAT prep courses. What I like most is the Scholaranium where I get to practice so many high quality GMAT questions and improve on my weak areas. Overall, I feel like if you have enough time to follow all that eGMAT has to offer, you will have a great score on the real exam.

Egmat verbal live prep is top notch!

November 9, 2018

  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 590 After: 630

e-gmat's Verbal live prep was a super helpful program. I tried using several books and one other online source. I had a hard time using each of those because they didn't bring in the comprehensive learning approach that egmat's verbal live prep brings. I'll go through each section of egmats verbal live prep and how it was helpful. But first just to clarify, the only reason I gave a 4 star general rate was for functionality of the site. There was a couple times I had problems with general "bugginess" of the the site and where the site went down when I was in crunch time for studying. It was only off for a few minutes but was still annoying. Other than that the site worked great and didn't have any problems. The online modules and web recordings are all incredibly effective because of the interactivity. The interactive nature of the modules allow the user to learn and retain what you're learning. Scholaranium is a great tool to solidify and practice everything you've learned in the learning model.

Sentence Correction: The sentence correction program was incredibly effective. The reason it worked so well was that not only does the program teach grammar rules, it teaches on a meaning based approach. No other program that I tried took this approach and as a result no other program was as effective as egmats. When solving SC questions, testers should not only be thinking about if the grammar rules are correct, but what meaning is the author trying to get across. After learning this my SC approach changed.

Critical Reasoning: Like in my sentence correction approach, I changed my CR approach when I went through the online module. It teaches you to go for meaning when reading the CR question. After I got that concept down, CR started making sense. I didn't rush through problems worrying about time. I didn't look for shortcuts. I took a very fundemental approach to every problem I faced and ensured I understood exactly what the sentence was saying and what was being asked.

Reading Comprehension: RC is an area I really needed help with. Prior to talking the verbal live prep course I tried several ineffective approaches. The approach that worked was egmats, which teaches you to slow down, ensure you are comprhending each sentence you read through, stop and pause when you need time to think about what you read and not oversaturate your mind, and making effective notes that allows you to understand the purpose of the paragraph and allows you to know where to look for specific detail problems.

First of all, I would thank e-gmat for creating such a wonderful platform, which caters so well w.r.t. the content as well as strategy related to gmat verbal section. I dreaded the verbal section beyond imaginations. I had no convent school background and had innumerable gaps in even basic english/verbal rules. E-gmat helped me identify these gaps and offered content and strategy to fill these gaps. The most awesome part of the learning was that I was not supposed to resort to shortcuts or cram rules. The course offered a very holistic approach to make the learning worthwhile for and beyond gmat.
The SC course is so well structured. Payal and Shraddha helps you clarify lots of doubts through their articles there.
The CR live sessions with Krishna are really awesome. The pre-thinking approach to argument really works and the video lessons make you pretty ready for the real gmat.
The SC and CR modules along with master comprehension course makes the RC seam easy to approach.
I believe that signing up for e-gmat was a game changing decision for me during my gmat preparation.

Thanks,

Good Verbal Course for Analytical Brains

E-Gmat has been a great course for someone with analytical brain. The sentence correction (SC) is especially great about it. I scored 700 (Q50 and V34) in my last GMAT attempt and with ESR, I came to know that my SC needs improvement. They systematically identify what roles various elements play in a sentence and what they mean. Their emphasis on the meaning of a sentence is a great strategy to ace SC. For critical reasoning, pre-thinking is a great tool to immerse and identify the answer. Their newly added section on reading strategy is helpful to crack RC. I saw 3 points improvements in the mock tests (V37) now.

Best for GMAT- no second thoughts!!!

November 1, 2018

  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 590 After: N/A

Hi Everyone,

I gave my first attempt in GMAT in October last year and scored a demoralizing 590. My preparation involved only self study. I then searched for good courses and then learnt about e-GMAT. I was pretty impressed with their achievements and decided to join e-GMAT online but I wanted to write my 2nd attempt within a month and hence had gone through only SC course. My 2nd attempt score improved to 620. Then I felt I will take my next attempt only after going through the courses completely.

Everyday in whatever time I get I used to study and prepare. Being a working professional it was difficult for me to complete the course in 6 months. Thankfully, e-GMAT had flexible extension plans and I have almost completed it and have my exam in another 4 weeks time. Now I feel more confident and hopefully by the grace of God will achieve my target score this time.

Positives-
1) Course starts from scratch. An average person who had completed an UG degree will able to follow easily and can build his skills.
2)OG/QR/VR questions are at the end of every topic to get acclimatized to GMAT type questions. This really makes one confident that he/she can tackle GMAT type problem using the concepts learnt.
3) The scholaranium consists of lots and lots of questions for practice which are very much similar to GMAT type questions that one must really solve to gain confidence for the exam.
4) Verbal course starts with master comprehension which I must very well say is the basics that every test taker ignores due to exam fear and makes mistakes in exam.
5) SC is vast and is well structured and at the end of SC course once gets to know a lot of concepts and by repeated practice one can master SC.
6) I like the CR course particularly due to pre thinking concepts.
7) The whole quants course was easy and enjoyable. Quants has lots of questions in scholaranium .
8) The e-GMAT team is flexible. They take into account student's problems, say for example they provided me extension.

Improvements-
1)Course will be difficult to be completed in 6 months for a working professional since the course contents are vast.
2)There is a limit on the number of questions that can be asked in forums in a week (7 queries per week). e-GMAT team should reconsider this policy. When a student does scholaranium questions continuously for a day he will be getting more than 7 doubts for sure like me when I did the course. When studying concept files this limit is fine.
3)Honestly for me live session didn't make much difference. Everything is available in e-GMAT online course itself. But e-GMAT offers score guarantee only in e-GMAT live course.

Hopefully I will edit this review and write my success story after the GMAT exam.

Thank you for reading my review.

Why e-GMAT's Live prep courses are the best courses around ?

October 31, 2018

Since, I am from a technical background, GMAT's Quant was never a problem for me as, I never lost the touch from Math. in my entire life, but Verbal was a very different story for me, and to be honest it scared me a lot when I first came across the GMAT verbal.

Through an online advert., I came across eGMAT and I registered myself for their webinar on sentence correction. They provided me pre webinar study material. I was surprised to see how detailed study material was and, how it taught me the very basics of sentence correction. When I attended the webinar the teacher expected me to study the pre webinar material, which I did and he helped me further to build upon that basic knowledge I had on the topic and solve multiple GMAT questions on the topic. After the webinar, I decided to purchase eGMAT's live prep course because I felt it was the best decision for me.

Let talk about the course now, in it everything is taught from the basics to the advanced level and you are tested at every step of your way so that you know how much you have learned from the topic and do you need to revise the topic or not before moving forward. This approach of teaching really impressed me since in many other courses fail to test you at every step and you develop these knowledge gaps which lead to errors and then you need to study everything from the beginning. So once I studied the topic I usually did not need to go back again to restudy it. It was the same for Quant as well.

I used to be an extremely slow test taker, but the course helped me a lot. In the course there are multiple practice tests and OG question tests, which gives you the gist of solving questions online with a timer which according to me is extremely important as it helped me with my pacing and identify in which parts of the test I was taking more time than normal and Scholaranium is like icing on the cake, It gives you the experience of GMAT like tests from its huge question bank and the thing I love most about it is its detailed analysis of my performance for every type of question.

All in all it is safe to say eGMAT live prep course is the best course around.

Both Verbal and Quant sections of e-GMAT has been organised into step by step video lessons, and after each lesson we can evaluate our skill. This is what helped me plan my studies, make a note of where I lag behind and focus on those areas. There is detailed study plan outlined in the 'Your Study Plan' course, which is extremely helpful to make sure you are benefiting the most out of this course. Also, it is essential to know our weak points. With e-GMAT course, it is easy to keep track of them.

Quant was always my strong hand, but still I couldn't score above Q35. After I used e-GMAT, I easily managed to score Q48. Now with a little practise, I am hoping to increase my score to Q50. Once you solve the questions in the Scholaranium, solving 700+ questions becomes a cake walk.

I would highly recommend e-GMAT'S both Verbal and Quant prep for anyone planning to improve their score significantly. All the best !!

As a non-native speaker, I had faced difficulty while preparing for the GMAT Verbal section. I was looking forward to develop a strong foundation and learn the right techniques required to crack verbal questions. I came across e-GMAT through GMAT club reviews. I got 7-day free trial videos Of Verbal. They had very elaborative and easily understandable explanations for the questions, which made me not think twice before taking up the subscription.

The e-GMAT Verbal live prep started strengthening the fundamentals and logical approach to solve any verbal question. Each concept has video lessons and it helps me improve my approach to the verbal section. The questions asked in their practice quizzes which are highly organised with a varied difficulty level (easy, medium, hard) and of a good standard to make sure that all the topics covered are skimmed through the tests thoroughly.

Verbal Scholaranium allows you to create your own adaptive tests and you can alter your study plan by selecting topics, time per question, and difficulty level. This enabled me to identify my strengths and weaknesses. Each question has a video explanation and also text solution which is written in a systematic way in steps. You can post your query right after every question where you can have a quick reply with a detailed explanation.

Every weekend you will have a topic wise live session to solve questions based on the difficulty level which is a good privilege to asses where we stand. With the live sessions I have learnt new ways to prep for verbal and my doubts at the sessions have also been cleared at that moment, and the recorded sessions are of real help when I get struck while revising the topics, which made my concepts crystal clear. Now my verbal score has improved from V25 to V41 and I?m almost absolutely sure that the graph will go up in the next few tests that I?ll be taking.

I highly recommend e-GMAT Verbal Live Prep!!

The studying process can be pretty overwhelming, especially because there is too much information and opinions out there. It is very difficult to start a study plan, you will first do a little research, then skim some online course reviews and compare some common study strategies, but finally you will give a leap of faith based on what you?ve read. It will common to ask yourself if that was the correct study plan, but the best course of action is to hold on to that decision and go through it, later it will morph organically into a tailored plan.
I started out reading in a lot of forums, asking question to some friends that have been in this same process and gathered the main inputs of information that I thought would be necessary to have a complete overview of the material. This was exhausting, while reading and extracting the different pieces of information, I tried to make a complete summary of Quants and Verbal with the material collected, including Manhattans ebooks, some friends? summaries, pdfs I found on internet and my own annotations. The most troublesome point was that in order to don?t miss a thing I read and over read same information in different parts, not one had a everything I needed to know. I don?t remember it precisely, but I think I spent over 2 months in recollecting, learning and summarizing information.
After having my own booklet of material, I needed to start exercising. The Manhattan exercises where great for this, loads of good quality questions and explanations, but I felt I was missing some technology that could boost my learning. At this point I realized I needed an online course, one that gave me some insights about my weaknesses and where I was overspending time. A friend of mine recommended me e-gmat so I bought the Verbal and Quant Online course. This platform is excellent, I realized it had all the material needed to study and great exercises that made you internalize easier the concepts. So? a lot of time unwell spent at the beginning. Fortunately, thanks to my previous study, I could go rapid through the concepts and focus on the exercises. Scholaranium, the question bank of e-gmat, had several tests about each topic and you can easily see your progress. Also, it enables you to make customized tests where you can mix those weak areas into one test.
Time is essential while studying, and e-gmat helps to reduce the time needed, guides you into deep learning the concepts, provides quality questions and answers, and helps you get a structured study plan.

The course follows a structured and meaning based approach which really helps to crack questions at ease.

Mastered Compression really helps to tackle even the most difficult of RC passage. On the top of it the structured approach taught to solve different question types really helps.

The concept of Pre-thinking used in CR truly unique and effective. If one follows the process as taught my experts, then finding the correct the correct answers is never a struggle

When I started SC, it was my weakest section. The meaning based approach really helped me to improve my ability. It goes beyond the different rules that we usually come across

e-gmat's verbal course was a great resource during my GMAT preparation. After trying various online resources and failing to improve my verbal score, I decided to give it a go with e-gmat trial. The way the course is structured and the focus on meaning made me buy the course right away. e-GMAT focuses on the key aspects you need to learn and you can always benchmark where how you are doing with the powerful scholarium tool. In about few weeks into the course, I feel much more confident about my skills. My only regret is to have not discovered e-gmat before and not having more time to improve my verbal ability.

GMAT Verbal live prep is very systematic course and suitable for working professionals. I always felt that I might miss the classroom experience by taking just online course. But Live prep classes has helped me a lot to have classroom like environment. Best part of this course is that I learnt lot of concepts in these classes and clarified all my doubts with Experts. As working professional, Due to high pressure at work, I lost discipline in preparation . This live course came to my rescue. It helped me to be discipline in preparation and helped me to gain the lost momentum.
Course structure is very systematic .It guides students on what modules to cover first and what not to cover. There is application quiz and Practice quiz with detailed solutions after every module. This helps us to evaluate and understand gaps in our understanding. This is very much important in better understanding of each modules and helps in increasing the speed in covering these modules. . The video lessons are so animated that it helps me to remember the concepts so clearly.
Before taking this course, I was taking 10 min to read a passage with 50 -60% understanding. After taking this course, Master comprehension Module helped me to solve RC passages less than 6 min with 100% Accuracy. It was a magical and I am very confident I can solve any tough passages during GMAT exam.
The other strategy that helped me the most is PRE THINKING strategy. This strategy helped me so much in solving CR questions with 100% accuracy. Because of this strategy, the confusion or the mental friction that I used to get when analyzing the answer choices ,has completely gone. This saves lot of mental energy during the exam time.
Post going through this course, my accuracy rate and speed rate has improved by 90%. I am able to get 730+ easily in all Veritas Prep Mocks tests.

The best Go To course for a high verbal score (V40+)

June 27, 2018

I subscribed to VLP after having a dismal performance on the GMAT for the 3rd consecutive time. Although I have been an eGMAT client for over two years, I never really implemented the eGMAT processes and always answered questions based on shortcuts and gut feeling. Though I learnt the concepts well from VO, I still succumbed to pressure and anxiety at the time of the test.

Before I share my 2 cents on VLP, let me clarify a myth right here. VLP isn?t a classroom model (instructor-led) coaching to teach you the basics and redo the VO course, but with an instructor instead, VLP complements the VO by helping you to assume the role of both the test maker (Prethink) and test taker (POE). This is precisely why VLP is the best course available in the market.

Here are my brief opinions about the VLP course, in parts:

RC: I have heard enough of reading the passage slowly but never spent my time in knowing what is the optimal reading speed and time. VLP ? RC sessions helped me discover how to read a passage and answer RC questions with high accuracy. I have now improved my accuracy to over 80% from a meagre 50%, and I attribute it entirely to the master comprehension course and the VLP- RC sessions.

CR: I usually fare better at CR generally with 70% accuracy but the average time I spend on CR question was way over 2:30 mins. However, after diligently applying the approaches (Prethink and POE) taught in the live sessions, I am now able to see a good improvement in my accuracy while taking much lesser time to answer CR questions (< 2 mins)

SC: I used to score low in SC due to poor comprehension skills. The master comprehension course helped me a lot in SC as well. Now I can break down sentences into smaller chunks and assimilate the meaning and proceed with the POE. The instructors who conducted the live sessions helped me understand the different processes in solving the different error types and made the SC question-solving process a breeze. I have improved my accuracy by leaps and bounds but taking close to 2 mins, which I believe will come down naturally with good practice.

Having outlined my opinions about the course, I am hopeful that I will be able to apply the VLP processes in my next retake and achieve my target score.

Final Verdict: VLP course will make you think like a test-maker thereby resulting in improving your accuracy, and VLP should be your go-to course if you are targeting a good verbal score (V40+).

I started my preparation few months ago with Manhattan SC for verbal. Even though the book is good, I couldn't get hold of the subject and I felt that the explanation given in the book is above my level. A friend of mine suggested me to look into e-GMAT verbal course as he knows that I am a bit weak in verbal. I opted for VLP program instead of Verbal online as i felt that chance to be in a class room kinda environment makes me more focused. The interaction in the sessions and platform is really great. Out of the content given in course SC is the best. It actually makes you understand from basics and the reason behind the selection of answer choices with POE. My RC improved a lot and I am yet to go through the CR content for which i asked for an extension of my Verbal Live Prep course to eGMAT team. They agreed readily and saved be at least 100 bucks. Thanks to you guys. I would definitely suggest this course for anyone who is looking for solid verbal score and a must for non-native speakers.

The best verbal course for a non-native student

June 5, 2018
  • Teacher: Rajat Sadana

  • GMAT ScoresBefore: N/A After: N/A

Let me begin my review for e-GMAT by saying that I never studied English as a first language in my school. Till my 12th standard I studied even all my science subjects in Bengali. So, naturally my expertise in English was low from the beginning. I started my GMAT preparation by myself only with OG books. As an engineer, I was able to cope up with Quant because I was quite comfortable in Math. But when I started preparing the Verbal portion, I felt it really difficult. Most of the questions, I used to answer wrong. I was literally struggling with my Verbal preparation and looking for a study material, which will teach me the verbal from basic.

Then I attended the e-GMAT free Webinars on SC, CR and RC and really impressed with those and made a purchase decision of Verbal online.

1. SC :- The first thing e-GMAT taught me that GMAT is not a test of English, rather it is a test of comprehensive ability. It taught me that correcting a sentence not only mean to look for grammatical errors but also most importantly make the sentence meaningful. It guided me with the three steps process (understanding the meaning of the sentence, error analysis and POE) how to tackle from easy to most difficult question. The course also made me comfortable on each individual concept of grammar with applications and practices. It has
nice step by step solution of each OG questions. The explanation of the OG answers are really awesome. Most of the questions have key takeaways to note.

2. CR :- The most important thing I learnt from the CR course is identifying the conclusion. Once I could find out the conclusion then answering the question becomes really easy. The course also guided me what can be challenged and what can not be in an argument. It is really helpful for tackling strengthen and weaken question. Additionally the Scholaranium platform is a good source of question bank to practice.

3. RC :- I don't have much take on the RC part because still I am not comfortable with the RC and trying to cope up with the process. But the course teaches a very good habit of reading by its Master Comprehension course. It also tells how to get involved in the passage and squeeze the gist of the passage, which finally makes it easier to answer the questions.

Finally, I will say you can bet for e-GMAT if you are really struggling with your Verbal preparation.

The best verbal prep course online

I came to know about e-gmat verbal live prep through a friend who had score 730 on the Gmat. He said that it had helped him immensely in his preparation. So as a result, I joined the e-gmat course in August 2017 hoping that it would help me improve my overall score. I had taken the Gmat mock test before but had score poorly in the verbal section and felt that I needed a thorough practice in that area in order to get my desired score.

Now having tried the verbal live prep course, I can definitely say that it was the best decision I took with regards to my preparation. I really appreciated the way the instructors gave the online sessions, deconstructing sentences and passages to delve deep into what the author is trying to say. I was also impressed on the focus given to each and every option to analyse and figure out why a particular option was the right or the wrong one. Apart from the live sessions, I also studied the online material and exercises and found them to be immensely helpful during my preparation. By focusing on the key areas that I need to target, I was able to improve my accuracy in SC, CR and RC by a huge margin.

Now having gone through the course, I feel much more confident in my ability to solve the Verbal questions in the test without worrying about spending too much time on them or wondering whether I got them correct. Egmat's verbal live prep has enabled me to think logically while applying the methods to every problem and find out the correct solution.

Would like to thank the entire team of E-gmat for designing such an interactive course for us students who have a hard time with the verbal prep.

This was my first time using any GMAT Prep Course and to improve upon my Verbal I chose the e-gmat's Verbal Live Prep. First off - their customer service is very fast and a total delight. Now about the course : I am the kind of student who likes to study with the fundamentals. I am not one to memorize a list of tips and tricks. E-GMAT aligned really well with my study pattern as it goes into the deepest concepts and spends time on them. Then there are practice tests immediately to apply the concepts. It is the right kind of learning for students like me. While I have enrolled for the class last minute, I was able to improve my Verbal scores to reach V34 on exam day. This was very satisfying , however I know that I have to work even harder for my next attempt and I have chosen to continue with e-gmat.

As a satisfied student of the e-GMAT Live Prep, I shall provide an extremely honest and unbiased review of the course.

Firstly, e-GMAT is one of the very few Test Prep companies to have an absolute command the GMAT content and curriculum. The course structure is extremely GMAT-specific, avoiding unnecessary emphasis on redundant topics not tested on the GMAT. Each concept is explained with absolute clarity with precise examples. Concept files are immediately followed by practice files to cement the understanding of concepts. The course tremendously focuses on concept clarity rather than grammar overdose. Concept and sample question explanations are precise and easy to understand. Additionally, e-GMAT empathizes on simple strategies and steps to approach each question type; most of the strategies are 3 to 5 steps rather than the confusing 7 to 10 steps approaches offered by other test prep companies.

Secondly, the learning framework is lucid, lea ving students satisfied after every session. The course is meticulously designed to be highly user friendly, student spending hours on the course without having a feeling of overburden. Without going into every nitty gritty details of the course, I would say that e-GMAT is THE MOST user friendly course available, providing students with a plethora of options to navigate through the curriculum.

Thirdly, the instructors are champions in Verbal, possessing in-depth knowledge of each Verbal concept of SC, RC, and CR. Live Prep sessions are student-friendly and the instructors make it a point to address every query. Avoiding any pedagogue approach, Instructors teach in simple, lucid, and precise manner. The focus the live sessions is to cement concept nuances and discuss advanced concepts, concepts that would differentiate between V35 and V42/45. Advanced concepts are clearly explained with simple examples in Live Prep sessions.

Lastly, the support team at e-GMAT is extremely cordial and understanding. All issues are quickly resolved within 24 hours. I believe e-GMAT?s core value puts students? priority at its focus, something that is strongly reflected in the e-GMAT support team.

e-GMAT Verbal Live Prep is a must for every non-native English speaker. I highly recommend the course to all prospective GMAT test takers. I would sincerely thank the entire team of e-GMAT for shaping the test preparation of millions of GMAT test takers like me.

GMAT is all about the process

I will try to keep it really short and crisp. I came to know about e-GMAT from the online forums and after going through the reviews leave no room for doubt. Just attend any free webinar by e-GMAT and you will know what I am talking about. The crux of e-GMAT teaching methodology is that there is no shortcut and one cannot get away with a high score without paying attention to the details. GMAT is an exam of logic and just the concepts are not going to help anyone through to a high score. It's the application of those concepts that is tested and e-GMAT courses are really well designed for that.
The course contents covers all there is to know about the questions asked in the GMAT and the correct way to handle them. The content files stresses a lot on following the process irrespective of the difficulty of the question.
I have attempted GMAT once and did not score well on the GMAt and the only reason for that is not the conceptual gap but the application gap.
There are many courses or free material available on the internet for GMAT but having the concepts presented in the right and concise manner is what makes the difference. With the regular live sessions, really helpful faculty and continuous content upgrades the course is only going to get better with time.

How E-GMAT helped me jump from 700 to 750

April 12, 2018
  • Teacher: Payal
  • Recommended forVerbal: No  Math: No
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 700 After: 750

eGMAT Verbal Live Prep was the only reason why I was able to show a 50 point increase over the course of my 2 attempts, going from V35 to V40 in 6 months.

I gave my first GMAT in November 2017. I scored 700 (Q51 V35) - very low in verbal and I could see that I needed help with verbal. A friend told me about e-GMAT and how the Verbal section had been instrumental in his rise in Verbal score. I immediately enrolled in eGMAT Verbal Live Prep (VLP) and was provided with a very detailed and systematic study plan that I needed to follow. This plan kept me in check all throughout and made sure that the proper foundations were laid before advanced concepts were introduced. The tutors were very helpful be it moderating strategy sessions, providing lectures via pre recorded videos or answering to the questions posted on online forums and their own question forums. The articles covering various concepts in SC, CR and RC were very well written and have been appreciated by many online forum goers.

I started with SC and I was amazed to see how seemingly straightforward concepts such as SV Agreement, Modifier and Parallelism could be used to make difficult questions. Herein lies e-GMAT's greatest strength: to break down seemingly impossible to understand SC prompts into smaller segments and then analyze in detail each component of the sentence. The videos were very clear and easy to understand.

After SC, I moved to CR. The focus on understanding the conclusion, how premises relate to the conclusion, prethinking, negation technique, etc. were hugely helpful. In GMAT, every incorrect answer is wrong for a particular / solid reason. If you are eliminating a choice without that reason, you will end up choosing incorrect options. eGMAT CR provided the tools to understand why is an option incorrect, be it out of scope, similarly worded but incorrect option, partially correct options, opposite choice, etc. Unless you understand how GMAT can give you incorrect options based on above reasons, you will not be confident in choosing an answer (my situation in the first attempt). e-GMAT's focus on breaking down any argument into its respective elements, understanding the linkages and pre-thinking provided you 70% of the total work required for answering a question correctly. Rest 30% would come from POE of options provided. I was able to increase my accuracy in OG CR questions from 55% to 90%+ with e-GMAT's CR module.

Third step, finishing the RC module, taught me a couple of useful tactics to be an active reader and to be involved with the passage. eGMAT RC also provided the tools to understand why is an option incorrect. Once you become fully engrossed with the passage (by following eGMAT's advice), finding the correct answer via POE became very straightforward.

Finally, VLP also included Verbal Scholaranium and this is an absolute must to complement verbal practice from OG and GMATPrep. Scholaranium comes with an "ability" evaluation technique that tells where exactly do you stand (percentile wise) for a particular section. This was particularly very useful since I was able to do targeted practice for areas I was faltering on. The collection of 600+ questions is an amazingly crafted collection consisting of questions from 3 difficulty levels. The explanations are very detailed and are provided for all the questions and you can even post your doubts and one of the eGMAT experts will respond to your doubts soon enough.

To summarize, eGMAT VLP is a must buy for all non-native English speakers. Thank you e-GMAT team for helping me in tough times and keep up the great work you guys are doing !

Excellent Verbal online course for non-native speaker

E-GMAT is a very well-structured online GMAT course. I purchased verbal live online course by recommendation of my friend who was able to improve his verbal score from V31-V32 to V40.

As a non-native English speaking student, I found that verbal section of GMAT was very difficult especially SC which was my greatest weakness. After I finished SC course, I was very impressed by detailed explanations on most tested topics in SC. It made me realized that I had overlooked some important concepts in my previous preparation. Moreover, E-GMAT 3-step solving approach was very practical in the real practice test. It helped me improving my verbal score on practice test significantly.

Another challenge for me was time allocation for GMAT preparation. As a consultant, I normally work for 10 hours on average each day. However, with E-GMAT platform, I was able to access to my lesson or take a quick concept quiz via my smart phone during my trip from home to work.

In overall, I would recommend E-GMAT course to those non-native speakers who wish to excel in verbal sections. Good luck on your GMAT journey!

e-GMAT's Verbal Live Prep is ideal for non-native students

Hi guys, I improved from V29 to V35 over a span of 3 months. Writing the review in pointers for ease of reading. :)

1. I started with e-GMAT's Verbal Online in 2017 but the major mistake I made was of not attempting Scholaranium. So my score didn't improve from 650.

2. I had a call with Mr. Piyush Beriwala in Dec 2017 and that is when he helped me identify my mistakes. I was reading too fast, without understanding. I was unable to apply all the SC rules eGMAT taught me via Verbal Online. I mismanaged time. Finished the Verbal section too soon. Quant was fine at 49.

3. I enrolled for Verbal Online Prep in Dec 2017 and attended their sessions on SC and CR primarily. Once I got the methodology of attempting GMAT questions I simply customised quizzes in Scholaranium, as Mr. Piyush Beriwala has suggested, and gained confidence in solving Verbal questions. I am in love with Scholaranium. It did wonders for me.

4. GMAT Mock tests are a must. So please don't ignore them.

5. I read on another platform that 150 words per minute should be the ideal reading speed, so I adapted myself to that and it did wonders to me.

6. For SC, CR and RC understanding every work you read and making paragraph summaries is essential. So is prethinking.

7. Don't overestimate yourself or underestimate the GMAT if you've been a highscoring English student and/or a public speaker in India. GMAT has rules which must be followed. I thought my English and grammar is good so it'll be a cakewalk but it wasn't in the initial attempt coz I wasn't following the rules. And being beaten in English was quite disheartening.

8. e-GMAT faculty is friendly, professional and experienced. The courses are beautifully designed. Make the most of their expertise.

9. Stay calm on test day. Enjoy the entire process. Book a Pearson VUE centre, they give a better test experience.

10. Do listen to interviews of people who've improved tremendously. Mr. Rajat Sadana posts them regularly.

I was extremely happy to see a 690 flash on the computer screen when I appeared for GMAT in Feb end. I still feel I am away from the psychologically fab score of 700+ but I will settle with a 690 due to my other engagements :)

All the best to all aspiring GMAT test-takers.

An excellent course for improving foundation and learning concepts

When I started preparing for the GMAT, I used to take a lot of time in answering the verbal questions that too with poor accuracy.
While searching for strategies to improve speed and accuracy, I came across e-gmat verbal live course on GMAT club. I took some demo sessions before joining the course and I found them helpful in improving my accuracy. The approach towards the questions was easy to understand for non-natives. After taking the entire course I am more confident in approaching the verbal questions. I hope to receive a good score now. Thanks to e-gmat team!

Mock Exams Scores Drastically Improved after 2 failed attempts on GMAT real exams

I paid over $1,500 for GMAT prep with Veritas Prep in San Diego and my GMAT score did not improve at all after two attempts which almost made me give up on my MBA ambition. I scored well below 600 (quant + verbal) after attending all classes with Veritas Prep which was a huge disappointment and embarrassment after all the materials I went through. I needed a new direction on how to nail the GMAT and get into a good business school.
My dear friend Raj referred me to e-GMAT and after attending some of the free webinars led by Rajat Sadana, I became very pleased, re-energized and was ready to study again for my GMAT to revive my MBA ambition again. Thanks to Raj as I have registered with e-GMAT and studying for the GMAT exams at a cost far less than Veritas Prep and other Institutions but gained more confidence and accuracy in answering level 700 questions.
Personally, e-GMAT has provided me the fundamental concepts I have been looking for through thoroughly prepared online videos covering both verbal (SC, CR and RC) and quant (Geometry, Number Properties, Algebra and Advance word problems) sections of the GMAT. The most important of all is the numerous quizzes and drills I take after learning the fundamental concepts of each section with I never had through Veritas Prep. This has increased my confidence in answering most of quant and verbal questions, accuracy and speed as well.
I can confidently pre-think assumptions very quickly and logically to answer critical reasoning questions with confidence and ease which I used to struggle with and now a non-issue for me.
Through the online videos and the weekend live sessions, I have seen my quant and verbal scores improved drastically and I am hoping to have a 720+ score on the real test as the preparation I have achieved through e-GMAT has equipped me with the tools and skillset needed to ace the real exams.
Thank you e-GMAT for all the efforts in putting together such efficient, wonderful, informational and educational online videos for all underlying GMAT concepts covering both the verbal and quant sections of the GMAT. Additionally, I love the weekend live sessions that empowers interactions from all students across the globe to solve questions. On a scale from 1-10, my score rating for e-GMAT is 10/10 and my favorite instructor is Payal Tandon but admire all the instructors for their hard-work and dedication in helping students improve their respective GMAT scores and getting into competitive business schools globally.
I hope my personal statement will motivate or encourage some of you out there who have lost hope in getting better GMAT scores. Please go e-GMAT and it will not disappoint you but will rather help you get better GMAT scores and getting into your dream business school.
