Hi Yashwant,

It depends on your target B-schools and admission deadlines. You can also simultaneously start working on your applications along with GMAT prep, since most of US b-school deadlines are in first and second week of January, you can also try taking GMAT before 10th January if the slots are available.

Most schools list the deadline date for standardized test on either their deadline/notification pages or in the admissions FAQs.

What round and year are you intending on applying? That will change your timeline. Are you hoping to attend this year? You have already missed the first two deadlines at most schools and will have to apply in round 3. I would suggest you wait until next year and then you can apply in the first round for all of your target schools, increasing your chances at getting in.

I agree with Michael that you should probably wait to apply for the next season's admission cycle. For example, if you plan to apply by Round 1 deadlines in September/October, I recommend you give yourself enough time to take the test 3 times. For example, you could take it:

* Saturday, April 9, 2016
* Saturday, June 11, 2016
* Saturday, Aug 27, 2016

That way, you have at least 8 weeks between each test date to study and adequately prepare for the test. I don't recommend signing up for all three tests at the same, though, as you may not need to take the test three times.

Best of luck!
