MBA or Business Masters?

by adithyan94 » Tue Dec 11, 2018 6:20 am
I am an Indian with 2.4 years of IT experience. I have taken the GMAT and got a 640(Q49 V28). I am unable to decide if I should go for an MBA or Business Masters. I am planning for 2019 intake and aiming for top 100 BSchools. I don't want to work again for another 2-3 years and then pursue MBA. I might improve my GMAT score but I want to try getting an admission with my current score. Please help out here.

Hi,
You can target good MBA programs with your current profile. If you want to specialize in particular domain then you can target Business Masters.
640 GMAT is below average score for top 30 schools but still you can make it to schools ranked between 30-80. Since you are already late for 2019 intake suggest you to start soon and try our B-School selector tool to shortlist realistic schools by clicking here https://www.genedmba.com/b-school-select ... gqadQ5XKeK

Hi, adithyan94

Looking at your GMAT score, you have a very good Quant but need to improve Verbal. I would suggest you improve your GMAT and in parallel start applying to schools which are ranked above 25. When your score improves (and so your experience), we can specifically look at shortlisting the target schools.

Applications would also depend on your overall profile. Why not take our free first consultation, it would be great to discuss your profile.

Regards.

Hi adithyan94, the answer of which program to pursue will depend largely on your goals. A general business master's degree, such as an MBA, will educate you on a variety of business principles and can be applied to a broad range of industries and job functions. A specialized business master's provides in-depth knowledge on a specific topic and you become a subject-matter expert in the field. You may find the following articles useful:
