Petes halloween party!!

by uptowngirl92 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 3:56 am
At Petes halloween party this yr,everyone had to dress as a ninja or a pirate.If there are 18 ppl dressed as pirates,how many ppl are at the party?
1. there are 3 times as many women dressed as pirates as there are men dressed as ninjas.
2.There are three times as many men dressed as pirates as there are women dressed as ninjas.

Allright,so clearly each stmt. alone is insufficient.We are left with two equations:N=ninja,W=women,M=males.P=pirates

Nm=3Pw and Nw=3Pm
How is the OA:c?We can take multiples values and satisy the equation.!Kindly explain!

Tthe 2*2 table would be

men women

Ninjas x y

Pirates 3y 3x

We are told 3x+ 3y = 18

x+y = (18/3)

We need 4(x+y) = 4*(18/3)

Hence 24
