Letters from business schools

by Mr_T » Sat Feb 27, 2010 11:43 am
Hi everyone,

I was wondering how serious are the letters that we sometimes receive from business schools.
For example, I received in the mail a letter and a brochure/booklet from Mendoza. In the letter they state that I am a priority candidate and that those who fit my profile have in the past been accepted and frequently awarded a fellowship. Now, I have not applied to Mendoza, so I presume they got some of my information through the stuff we had to fill out for the GMAT exam.

Also, I received an email form York stating that my GMAT score was excelent, which is was not really, and that they want to invite me for a campus tour.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Hi Mr_T,

I have received quite a few of these as well including the Mendoza priority candidate letter. I think these are pretty generic and they send these out to many prospective students. The schools only see the information that you provide when you take the GMAT so that is pretty generic for evaluating a candidate.

I don't think these letters are too valuable unless it is for a school you want to apply and the school waives your application fee.
