This is a GMAT Prep2 Question
Can anyone explain me why "Had been in E is incorrect".
I have read in a few posts that "well established" is incorrectly modifying mineral extraction. However, i believe that its modifying method of mineral extaction.
please correct me if i am wrong

D is wrong because
Leaching...was a method of extracting mineral that was as early as 18c..
No sense at all.

Choice C is much more to the point. It's less wordy and avoids using an unnecessary gerund.crack30 wrote:can some one explain as eaarly as 18c should modify what, in logic? and why Dis wrong?

- Prefer a dedicated noun of a verb over its gerund. For some verb when dedicated noun do not exists, use its gerund form.mankey wrote:Please explain, what is the problem with D?

- What is "that" referring to "method of...." or "extracting mineral" ? there is an ambiguity.
