One millisecond is 0.001 of a second. The costs for a single run of a computer program are $1.07 for operating-system overhead, $0.023 per millisecond of computer time, and $4.35 for the mounting of a data tape. What is the total of these three costs for 1 run of a program that requires 1.5 seconds of computer time ?



(A) $7.15

(B) $8.87

(C) $28.96

(D) $35.57

(E) $39.92

Well I'll explain in detail but let me tell u the short cut.
Since 1.5 sec= 1500 millisecond and it will be multiplies by 0.023$=34.5$
this is quick calculation so u can easily eliminate answers A,B.C and adding 4.35 and 1.07 will be 5.42 so D can be eliminated too. Then Answer is E.
And for detailed 34.5+5.42=39.92.

Since 1.5 seconds = 1.5 x 1000 = 1500 milliseconds, the total cost is:

1.07 + 0.023(1500) + 4.35 = $39.92

Answer: E
