The top ten most popular movies of all time have all been released in the summertime. One movie critic claims that this is because more people go to the movies in the summer to escape the heat.

Which of the following most strongly supports this argument?

A Summer blockbusters are exciting and popular.
B People don't care which movie they are going to see in the summer.
C In the summer, people prefer being inside movie theaters to being inside cool spaces like restaurants or museums.
D The top ten most popular movies are all action movies.
E In the summer, it is cooler inside a movie theater than outside one.

I am again confused between assumption and strengthening.
I am stuck between C and E.
E, to me, looks more like an assumption than a strenghtener. Correct me if I am wrong.
C states a fact that actually strengthens the fact that people go to the movies.

Hence IMO C

Please guide me to place where I can find some information as to how to distinguish between assumption and strenghtenes.

I think C brings in new information and makes us to believe 'restaurants or museums' are cooler in summer. However, we don't know this.

We know from the passage that in summer there is heat. also we know that all most popular movies released in summer. You can not say movie is popular without most people go and see the movie. means most people are going and watching the movie in Theater. Now critic says that this trend is because people want to escape the heat. If people do not go to movie then they will be outside the theater, and outside is hotter than inside.

Therefore, IMO E is correct

IMO B

The argument says that summer movies are popular due to the fact that people go to the movies

If they do not care which movie they watch, then it is solely the weather and not other circumstances that is affecting the popularity of summer movies.

IMO B.

The question asks us to support the conclusion which is "The top ten most popular movies of all time have all been released in the summertime"

A,D,E add some extra points which do not add any more support to the conclusion.

Between B and C

C)People preferring doesn't really mean that people watch movies.

I prefer taking coffee to tea which means I prefer coffee but does not really mean that I only drink coffee

only option left B

E In the summer, it is cooler inside a movie theater than outside one.
my answer is B,
A is out of scope
C is possible but i think its not able to explain why people goes to the movies to escape the heat . i meant it is not very strong and not very clear
D out of scioe,
E is like C, not very strong. Being at home or in restaurant or in any place which can hide heat would be great way to escape the heat. its not very strong
B is good since the argument it means that there are 2 reasons for em to go to the movies, one is to watch the movie and two is to escape the heat. since B says people going to the movies dont care what kind of movie they are gonna see, it might be the other reason that they come to the movie just to escape the heat.
so what is the OA, babe?

would go for B

if we negate B, the argument is weakened. so B must stand. Others are out of scope and give extraneous information

I think E is not a strengthener but an assumption. If we negate E, the argument is not valid at all.
An assumption can not be a strengthener, which is not required for the conclusion to valid.

And I am not sure how C can strengthen. It is actually opposite what we need.

C says that restaurants or museums are cool places, but it does not say that theaters are cool spaces.

Please post OA.

It might be "b"...
Since people don't care about what movie they are wacthing, they go to the cinena just to escape from the heat outside.
